Regular networking meetups has something to do with it. It's much easier to be a keyboard warrior when you've never (and never intend to) meet them face to face.

I think this place would be pretty boring for people not into property or knowing about it, or really wanting to know.

LOL.....yeah, that may be far to liberal of a thing to say !

Definately its the respect that makes the difference. No egos, no keyboard warriors. Other forums have some knowledgable people (but still not as good as here), but generally this comes with attitude.

My feel of both here and also SS is that most people want to see others succeed in their investment journey, plenty of healthy debate about how people should get to their end goal.

Mostly also I find questions from new members are returned to them with the respondent asking them to look deeper into their orginial question...
    "I have 400k to spend,where should I buy?"
This question is normally meet with-"what is your plan?","what rental return are you looking for?" etc..

    Forum is very much

give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lIfetime..

I'm guessing you've ended up on propertyhub.com.au a few times by mistake?

I like this and I think it's true.
Along with the people in the volleyball community. I feel the vast majority of volleyballers are university educated in NSW. Maybe the participation fees would turn off the non uni educated! Lol.
Its a sport where skills get developed at uni. There's tactics and a real understanding of it gets you better results...
Anyway... nice to be surrounded by intelligent people. Property investment takes a sustained commitment to do well long term. So does volleyball playing!

I've only ever known and contribute to Somersoft and this forum, Property Chat. I was wondering what the other forums people are referring to are? Any more other sites? Makes me itchy to want to go in there to compare the vibe!:D

I've got the definitive answer! It's because they don't use smileys on that forum!! ;)

Edit: I also don't see evidence of an ability for people to post mighty prurrrtty pics of their renos or houses on there...

But there is a dedicated property / investing sub-forum. I know what you mean though, but it's still an interesting insight into the mind of the average person. Though, it'll make your eyes roll, hard. I can't be responsible for any damaged caused by excessive cringing.

Apart from the abovementioned reasons, its the easy to use UI as well and well structured website with everything in its place and a place for everything.

Propertyinvesting - that is Steve McKnight's forum. I find this forum inferior to PC in terms of quality of investors and what they are doing IMO.

Doomsayer - someone who predicts bad things will happen.

But as property investors we all make predictions here right?? what's the problem with this, good or bad.

I think its important to have a broader view, realistic view on markets and it wont always be pretty.

We can talk property up till the cows come home (just don't call it Marisa) .. inside joke, but at the end of the day we are all here to share views, knowledge, experience and how we act on it is our own business.

But I would rather hear the good and the bad and be in reality as I will have a better chance of making the right choices. Just my opinion:)
