As long as people remember to use their mobile phones to check in. It is possible to check mobile phones without checking in, but there are problems. I know of an app which has been used to record workers on a building site purely by an app running on their mobile phones. However, people who use this app complain about the invasion of privacy caused by having to keep this app running.
Had to pick someone up from a private hospital today - their check in QR code was private, not Service NSW, and the receptionist got really snarky that my phone, being an android, wouldn't check in the code. Sheesh - a hospital of all places. Surely they'd get the universal "must have" dictated by the government QR code
Did you mean the brand promotion by the Victorian model? THE NORTH FACE: Daniel Andrews’ clothing choices double brand awareness Unlikely Hero Of The North Face, Dan Andrews, Makes People More Willing To Buy From Brand - B&T Dan Andrews' North Face jacket delivered the good news before he did I had no idea that The North Face actually wanted Dan to stop wearing the Jacket!! 'North Face' Ask Daniel Andrews: "Can You Please Stop Wearing Our Jackets?" The Y-man
This in particular really annoys me. So many not doing the right thing and putting others at risk. I only hope that the people catching this are the ones not masking up, or having parties etc, and that all those who actually do the right thing are safe.
How strange to be asked by North Face to stop wearing their jackets. I'd wear two next time. I wonder if it is a true story - can't tell from the website, never heard of it.
Pretty sure they already can. In that when your phone connects (ping's) to a tower it is logged, so they can track your path any given hour by connecting the dots to work out roughly where you have been. When you sign an application for border crossing declaration you give them the right to view/track your phone's previous movements. Rumor mill says this is how they have caught and prosecuted various people (Including the girls from Gold Coast that went to Melb last year !).
I heard about this North Face story a little while ago. Who knows if it’s true but it’s pretty funny. Oil, Gas CEO Slams North Face Company As Hypocritical | Cowboy State Daily
@wylie it’s satirical I’d like a hard lock down until zero, however long that takes. Kmart and everything closed except actual essentials. Schools too (like they are now though, open for kids who really need it).
I don't understand how they can do this. If we take me as an example, I have a work phone, I do not own it, I simply use it. Because I do not own it, or the data it uses, I cannot give consent for it to be used as a tracking device. Because I cannot give consent that means any tracking being done on the device by anyone is effectively breaking the law unless consent has been granted by my company. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for whatever methods we must bring in in order to keep this at bay but I do see a number of issues with it though.
This is sad My cousin's in laws owned 2 restaurants... one in Sydney's CBD and the other in Kingsford that would have had a lot of Chinese UNSW Uni students as customers.... They struggled with last year's lockdown, and are struggling again... If you live locally, please consider buying from them otherwise they'll probably go under...
