Apparently people from Melb & Syd are moving to SEQ, many to GC (& Sunny Coast). Just interested to know what kind of good paying jobs on GC besides the obvious ?

Health jobs. Anything tourism related (e.g. Dreamworlds ardent leasure in coomera). KPMG has an office there at Robina. A lot of construction jobs that pay well as it's a fast growing city and so close to Brisbane which is undertaking a massive infrastructure boom. The northern end of the gold coast and Logan have been in one constant construction boom for 20 years. Thousands+ of new houses going in every year.

Don't mistake my comment to think that northern gold coast/ logan is a good place to invest - there's way too much vacant land to be developed there imo - but it drives a consistent lot of trade jobs that pay $1xxk

Unless you are lucky and have been transferred to a job on the Gold Coast it may take some time to get a well paying one. Many many people have to travel to Brisbane for work. There are a few public servants office based here and of course hospitals and Uni’s . They are desperate for GPS here. Construction is going gang buster but for how long?
You come here for lifestyle and don’t expect to make big bucks. Might have a chance if you are developer and close to Tom Tate.
If you do make a lot you are lucky but many people go back to Sydney and Melbourne because of job situation. It’s taken us 10 years to get decent well paying work here :)

The health and allied health industries pay well, excellent courses etc and plenty of work. I think lawyers also do well, and there is always a need for them (unfortunately).

IT is growing , start ups as well as more established.

It isn't a public service town, and those that are entrenched in local and state gov are VERY entrenched. Closed shop i think.

Transport and logistics has taken off in nearby Logan.

If you want sky high pay, cosmetic surgeon specialise in boob jobs. Borders closed so they can't go offshore.

Also if you're doing the surgeries in Logan you don't even need a license.

Actually i think the industry of 'smiles' which in the old days used to be called 'dentistry' is booming in the gc (kinda cosmetic health industry). If you are good at 'grimaces' you could probably expand into Logan.

However you would need to be good at 'aloof and superior' to get any traction north of the River,.

Can I offer to be a loan shark, sorry, private lender, on these boob jobs and cosmetic dentistry jobs?! I just have to undercut the personal loan rate from banks. I'll give it all back in $1 tips at the stripper clubs they'll end up being displayed at. See the whole economy wins.

These days even a $200k salary is very very very hard to get.

When I used to contract in IT I was once contracting on $1300 a day - it used to be the good ol days.

Now those same positions are down to like $900 per day. I went full time a long time ago and now moved into management.

Even as a Senior Manager/Associate Director you will only be on around $160-$170k base. Director close to $200k. For you to be on $250k+ as a full time I think you would be at Managing Director/VP level.

Not many jobs paying these types of salaries these days and the ones that do the ppl in them dont leave very much because they know it will be hard to get another gig at those rates.

This is a compelling business model. Is there a role for 'test and release'. Very hands on.

I reckon its who you know in Brisbane/goldy if you want a professional well paying job. But don't expect 150k to 250k syd salaries.

I earn 250k and it doesn't seem like enough TBH, the GOVN takes its fair share, so I have to work for longer, harder etc, $300k - 400k seems like the sweet spot

47% tax on my $250k is nothing short of extortion IMO, no wonder the rich move their money off shore.
