Did anyone else think this thread was going to be about gay marriage?

Seriously though, police with tasers?? Hardly seems like an oppressivedictatorship given we accept that most carry guns.

There is plenty on the web site, but you will never accept any of it so let's not bother playing that game.

Seriously, "nothing to hide" straw man? Are you 12? It's as simple as this, they are called civil rights because they are rights, not privileges. The default position is innocence not presumptive criminality. We are not talking about searching people who look like they have just done a drug deal.

And your moral relativity arguement is repugnant, we aren't as bad as "Syria" so we are OK? We aren't as crap as Syria at human rights, what an achievement!

Let's aspire to be as good as Canada or Norway when it comes to human rights. I aspire higher and don't compare myself to the gutter, why do you?

We should get rid of police and their dogs from the train system.

Every time I see them I break out in a cold sweat and catch the next train. They're gonna give me a heart attack one day!

How do you know it is a drug detection dog? Could be a bomb detection dog for all I would know. What is the issue with police and dogs catching a train. They go into McDonalds and nobody raises a sweat. The police come to my school every second day with a gun on their hip plus a taser or pepper spray (cant recall which one) and they haven't shot anyone. Chill, Libs.

Ok let me say this... Last year i was arrested falsely after a sniffer dog detected something as i was walking past.
The Gung ho young Policemen hurled me up against the wall before running off like a rabbit when he got it wrong.
Why throw me against the wall if im not resisting ?
I have no drugs, i dnt drink alcohol, i dont smoke.I dont take drugs, i dont take any medication.

He said your under arrest , searched me on a public street , in front of people watching, after he found nothing he let me go.
He hurled me up against the wall .asked me why m wearing a jacket on a hot day and the female policewoman standing their laughing whilst the young police men and his sidekick tried to set me up.
She said to them " look at him he is scared" and they started laughing , i said to her " no im not scared you should be the one scared "

Email after email of complaints and the Police dont even bother to respond.
I had a detective inspector call me, he is not interested in my complant he says as i made threats
Against his junior Police ????? so it looks like I will have to pay a bloodsucking Lawyer just to get a response by the Police !!l He said to me on the telephone if you want to take it further we can too just remember you threatened 3 police officers !!
    I certainly didnt i told him .

Surely they have a duty to respond in writing to my complaint of false arrest?

Do you reckon its possible for you to have a debate without insulting people who disagree with you or "are you 12?"

No they didn't. Their was (always is) a list of bills that will be debated & voted on, in the instance in question a proposal was made to reorder this list & the Greens voted against it.

I agree. I find it very doubtful anyone would want to touch you let alone strip search you.

I'm pretty sure that this was more about business of the Senate. There was no vote. In fact, there was not even a debate. The question was whether the Senate would debate the issue of party preferences or gay marriage. The coalition and the Greens wanted to get the legislation about party preferences through the Senate so debate on gay marriage was put off.

They should really do something about their recruitment processes to attract a better class of officer not dogs.
