Although I haven't looked into these areas I would prefer an established house over an apartment/unit. This does depend on the locality of each dwelling, thus I would be more concerned with where you buy above what you buy. An apartment in a great location purchased at the right time can outperform an established house with poor demand.
I think the OP is gone. He's only done 6 posts, 5 of them in May, and the above. Properties he's mentioned have probably been sold by now as well.
