A bleak view of US soybean exports to China
This Chart Explains How Badly Trump's Trade War Is Hurting Soybean Farmers

Soybeans are one of the highest value exports to China.

While there has been talk that China would like to terminate soybean imports from the US entirely, that's probably not possible just yet. But that's just a matter of time, as other countries like Brazil gear up.

Not supportive of your usual view - did you actually read it?

"But if you step back and look at the U.S. economy as a whole it’s hard to conclude that the Trump trade war is doing much damage—yet."

"Hopes for a quick compromise, perhaps where China just agrees to buy more of our stuff, have evaporated. The U.S. has imposed tariffs on Chinese goods. China has retaliated. China shows little interest in changing the intellectual property or investment policies that do put the U.S. at a disadvantage. And we know from history that when a rising economic power challenges a hegemon like the United States, economic, political, diplomatic, even military conflicts are likely and can escalate rapidly, sometimes by miscalculation."

"No, the trade war has not yet devastated the U.S. economy, but we may not have seen the worst yet."

Yes - very - which is why what Trump is doing in shotgun style ... with no thought of global impacts and outcomes ... is scary.

No. I'm showing that not all is rosy with the US economy, and especially in relation to the trade war, which is what this thread is about. The source I quoted is centre right, and is today's news.

I agree that the US economy is generally going well. But I think that there are dark clouds on the horizon. The stock market is going sideways, the trade war is starting to hurt, interest rates are going up. I suspect a softening of the economy.

perhaps, time will tell...… outcome.... I think he will push China to negotiate.
Seems to be a pattern with Trump

I think Trump has got it right.

Didn't say you were promoting him - simply that I don't think I will follow what a known international investment and property scammer has to say on the position of international investments

Of course, even Trump said this would happen. There is method behind this strategy.

No one had the guts to do this.......as I said time will tell

As we know some countries who were squealing have come to the table, there will be more. I expect this will also happen with China...… and if I am wrong so be it. But somehow I doubt it.

China's manufacturing activity contracts even more than expected
The Chinese National Bureau of Statistics said on Monday official manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 49.4 — lower than the 49.9 analysts expected in a Reuters poll.

Trade war starting to take its toll. Lucky the 25% tariffs have another 60 more days to go, China must be feeling the pressure.

More pain to come for australia in 2019 for sure. Not sure if Trump and Xi will be able to agree to anything substantial.

I watched it 2 times --to me it give's the balance on what's happening --from sacked workers that have lost their jobs ,to other's who have gained employment ..Then you have business owners in shut-down mode waiting ..The most depressing fact is ,once they ask different people from business owners farmers down too the workers in my opinion they all seem to think Mr Trump is the person they want in power..
Some one else will watch it and see something different..

Well - that was a given. The American people are not going to stop buying imported products because they are not made in the US and have to be bought in from "somewhere" ... but these other countries Trump has involved in a trade war do not need to buy from the US because they can source elsewhere

Soya beans, grain and manufactured goods being perfect examples

US trade gap hits 10-year high as Trump's trade war backfires - as it happened

Trade deficit soars to 10-year high in 2018, foiling Trump White House effort to rein it in
