Olympics did NOTHING to Sydney prices. All the waanabees wished it up..No its Govt run so they make money not locals. They can even put in price controlsas they control everything !! If they get no cut its not happening. Sydney had price controls on leases and eviction limits. Who knows how it could play with airbnb etc. Sure tight demand for accom during games but you only get one tenant. And they pay a premium not a windfall. And they can whack up bollards and walls and ban parking anywhere to make access impossible so proximity means nothing. I had a client who worked for Murdoch in UK (aussie) who owned an apt and mooring at wooloomooloo which he let to the family for a hefty sum. But to do it he had to tee up the two neighbouring moorings too. It was the only one I heard about. Murdoch needed a big mooring and there were none !! Its 2 weeks + 2 weeks of paralympics. But the four years prior is like a city wide construction site. Govt gets in early for beds for people like regional bus drivers etc who get rough conditions and its just tourists who have to fend for themself. Cheap motels nobody will stay at gouge tourists and major hotels will be contracted to Govt. Companies like media will buy up floors of new apartmnets years earlier. Sell when its over. Govt even helps them with blocks they will build alongside a developer. Mirvac did a lot of them in Sydney. A suburb and more...Media had a huge camp with portable buildings as well. In grounds of a public hospital. Off the plan sales for a few years and 6 months after games they were all renovated and handed to owners. Newington.

Logan will be lucky if the torch runs through there. They will strip all telegraph poles of staples and posters etc and mow and paint things like never seen before or ever again. Just for TV and to rev up the public to buy tickets nobody shows interest in until reality kicks in. Two weeks prior. And hang some banners. They will rip them out soon after. Costly merch sales benefit retailers but its all licensed.

One tip for locals...Take time off in the games and enjoy. Dont leave the city.
