    20170511_171351.jpg 20170517_165012.jpg Hello everyone,

Have been thinking about this for weeks and still confused.

As you can see from the photo i have 3 gables at the front. Roof colour is colourbond Basalt and fascia is colorbond Dune. Soffits, and front porch ceiling painted dulux casper white.

With the gables i have painted the inserts in dune. The problem is the timber work. Should they be basalt or casper white? I feel that if I paint the timber trims in basalt it's too in your face hence the casper white as it gives a more softer contrast. However am i introducing too many colours?

    Any ideas greatly appreciated:) 20170517_165012.jpg

    Looks good/better in the white.
Down-pipes look a bit doggy though.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean all white or just white for the timber work?

Does down pipes work a treat!

Seconded with the downpipes, I want some too.

White with the grey border/trims will do on the gables as full grey will be too heavy. (It is a bit of a PIA to paint in the future but that's some time off.

From the pic I'm guessing all but the grey colorbond trims are timber, so IMO all timber white.

This is what I'm seeing- the basalt colour timber trims seem to heavy.

Would it look odd to reverse your suggestion? Eg white trims with like grey internals? Just seems to work better

Too much IMO, look better all white.
If you wanted to go to all the trouble cutting in etc, perhaps flat white panels with gloss white trims (trim would pop) but for the effort all gloss would look just as good, the shadows will give different appearances anyway.

Hi, I actually like the like the contrast in the balsalt especially as a contrast to the other colours you have. I find the white/grey looks a bit unfinished. Would need to see it on the large front gable though to be sure.

That's how the gable looked before too. Nothing a bit of paint can't fix ;)

Saw the reverse this morning on Burns Bay Rd Lane Cove. White trim on grey. Looked OK on a big gable (about 6m wide) but too heavy on a small one especially with the grey roof sheeting below.
