This mat can be found at IKEA for $10. We like the quality and feel of it..but not wanting to spend $10 for something we will stand on for literally 5 seconds.

So the solution which works well and actually fits the space perfectly and even better than the original size..

Shop for your meat in Guildford - dirt cheap compared to inner-city prices. Brisket, osso buco, ribs etc for less than $10/kg. Sure they should be cheaper cuts but paying $18+ at Rhodes for some of these is OTT.

(You won't find a pork shoulder though).

Re - the mat , I bought a mat from Bunnings $49.95 , I got the price wrong then on checkout realised , but went ahead anyway .

I was angry with myself but 5 years later this mat still looks new, it has everything spilt on it and water etc but still going strong .sometimes better to pay more for longer use .
I would pass on the salt and pepper shakers I saw at MY HOUSE Store the other day though , $69.95 for a pair of wooden salt pepper , no way !
"But they are top quality said the manager when I went to tell him what a rip off it was, and offer him $20 , "they are made of mahongny wood Sir "

Those mats are great... they hold their shape really well, wash and dry very easily... what's not to like?

Ps. My real cheap arse trick? I managed to pick up two of these mats (and good as new) when someone was moving out of their apartment. I paid $0.

Mate to tell you the truth , that may looks ugly .

Why not spend $10 or so and buy a bigger and nice colourful mat ? Something that looks good.

I mean your going to waste $10 on something else aren't you ?
Takeaway coffee or something like that.

It actually fits quite well and looks good tbh. I mean I don't know how 'good' a mat can look lol but it does its job. I am not sure if a colorful one will fit tbh.. And Coffee.... its an essential! Not sacrificing there! :)

Some of the time there's quite a bit of food left in the fridge... if it looks ok, i'll eat it or at least try it... sometimes people leave food as gifts.

And occasionally you just find random things left. Often in the dryer (perhaps it's hard for shorter people to see what they left in the bottom of it). Ladies underwear is a common thing. Question. Do charities want clean used underwear? Because that's where they will go...

Great trick! Used to have a friend who did that to the boys in our get together and soon he became an ex friend and no one invited him to anything. I'm all for savings and trying to get ahead

They can't resell/regift undies or swimwear. These go into the pile for Steve's Rags (cleaners supplies).

Of course they can't use the frilly, lacey or silky varieties. These are best kept for revenge by putting them into other people's luggage or drawers to raise suspicion ;)
