I have no problems with buying things. Not chocolates, as I'm the only person who eats chocolates in this house.

I'm just saying, I don't just save it for an American celebration.

I'd post the meme I sent to my husband as a hint but i might get banned :D

Seriously though, I'm not really one for those types of occasions. I'd rather celebrate every day than one designated day a year that's just about getting people to spend money on crap.

The only thing we really celebrate is our anniversary but we use that more an excuse to get away every year than anything else.

    Oh crap, it's tomorrow?!?!?
I'll be gobsmacked if DH remembers but now that it's been pointed out to me I will try and make a nice dinner but it's going to be hard as I'm on mum taxi duty 3-6:30pm

    We celebrate anniversaries.

We were married by law on one date, then by church 12 days later (in a country where one has to be married by law first before being allowed to marry in church).

That means i have two anniversaries to remember.

I have remembered 61 of those anniversaries.

But do it ever get reminded about the 61, or about the one I forgot?

The wife thinks we got married on Valentine’s Day so that I wouldn’t forget our anniversary :D.

That was part of the reason but the main reason was to only have to pay for one present, one dinner, ...

The money we have saved over the last 38 years, we have poured into our investments ;)

Meh. You blokes all get it easy.

My wife is Russian so I cop Valentine’s Day and March 8 (international women’s day) (which is more popular in Russia than Valentine’s Day).

Early in our relationship I laid down my ‘law’ and said she needs to decide which one she wants ‘cos I’m not doing both’.
She smiled sweetly and said ‘yeah, see how that works out for you’.

So flowers/chocolates both days it is!

Of course, there's one way to really surprise your wife on Valentine's Day.

    Introduce her to your girlfriend.

Half Geoff. That's the minimum it'll cost you.

Nothing for either of us - we barely do birthdays

We got married on Australia Day so we'd never forget it - lucky if we get a sleep in and maybe a nooky then on with the day. We started dating the day "after" Valentine's Day so nothing to see here

    Have to agree.

Hubby and I don’t do Valentines Day, or birthday or Christmas presents either for that matter.

But we do make up for it by buying when something takes our eye, as well as most years dropping $40K+ on an extended overseas trip.

I checked the rules. Sorry, I could not find anything in the rules about complete lack of romance. Nor anything about bad jokes.

I know someone who bought his partner a packet of sunflower seeds because she complained he didn’t buy her flowers!
