Weird phone calls... Possible scam

    I have been receiving some strange phone calls recently.

    The call is always "No Caller ID" and goes something along the lines of;

    "Hello, this is an important phone call for Mr .....(says my full name in a asian/idian/ robotic voice) "

    Or " Hello this is a phone from the commonwealth bank"

    It then asks me to follow some prompts such as press 1 to talk to someone or press 3 to do something else.

    Most the time I hang up but I decided to follow along too see what happens. It put me on hold, I waited for a minute and hung up.

    The weird thing is I have been receiving these call for about 3-4 years and they always seem to happen after I have bought a house or delt with the CBA in some form or another. After a couple weeks of calling my mobile morning and night 3 to 4 times per day they stop...

    Anyway wtf are these phone calls ? o_O

    Why the heck do they make them so weird?

    Cleary I like cba all of my loans are with them can't they **** off and let me pay my loans for the next 25 years :mad:

    I've had that from NAB before - stupid thing is I don't have accounts with NAB and they were after someone else. I had to sit on hold forever to get them to change the number - it was actual NAB though, not a scam.

    I got a call from Westpac asking if I wanted a credit card. There would be no fees as it would be packaged with my loans.....

    I asked where they got my details from. They said it was in their system attached to my loans. .....

    Only problem was...I don't have any loans with them. o_O

    Nah never have - and i do have 2-3 with CBA too i think.

    I get similar automated calls from CBA, only an interstate number shows up. I eventually answered the call (you can't call back) and it was something about my eftpos terminal.

    Got a call on Friday from "Brett from Suncorp" on my mobile on my way to work. He asked me straight up for my date of birth which I declined to supply. I said if he texted me his office number I would call back to confirm it was a bona fide call. He texted me instead his mobile number so I didn't bother. Any ideas?

    An automated message that is not related to my business would not get past "hello" with me.

    I had two phone calls stating that I have won a prize. One stated that she will pass me to someone who will give me the details. I waited about half a minute and decided that I may be scammed and hung up. The other was a sort of recorded message about me winning a Qantas ticket and that I should press one. I pressed one and it kept me waiting for about 15 seconds and I thought it may be a scam and hung up. :cool::oops:
