It's not sad - people pay for what they value, it's as simple as that. If they're not willing to invest in their own learning, or to get in the room with people who really know their stuff, they probably aren't serious...and their results reflect that.

$7m net worth is impressive to most people here. If someone has built something that's given them that, they're worth listening to for nearly everyone on this forum, including myself.

You need to learn how to have $7M before you can have $700m. ;)

I agree - that is about the value of my wine collection :D.
    Exactly
I would be surprised at that.

I know a number of PC members whose NW exceeds $7M, some by a lot. None considered themselves a guru

Tbh, 7mil is not that hard to achieve with a combination of business/real estate and time. It's not 'easy' for most but certainty doable and more. Especially if you are doing business. With resi real estate alone it will be much harder.

Business can be the game changer.

The last point is essential - there's no point gaining all of the knowledge but not putting it into action. Start with what is comfortable (risk adverse) then go beyond your comfort zone.

I agree, there are some here who would have far more than that...but the newbies would still learn a lot from someone with net worth of $7M - from property. ;)

If his $7M net worth is from business, still good to learn from but only if the OP wants to go into business!

I have never ever seen two investors that do the exact same thing. You can buy one half of a duplex and be unlucky with tenants v the other. I would argue with all the possible variables all that a course like that can teach is the basics. Or its too deep and too technical and you will be second guessing. But I kinda suspect the course promoter will have a load of reasons why buying what he is selling is a nicer tasting snake oil. eg we act like a buyers agent etc etc.......

Its like comparing the taubmans and dulux paint charts. They look different but they both sell the same colours and can match any colour and mix it and your choice will be what differs.

Forbes said Kylie Jenner had a $1b wealth. Then realised it was nothing like it. She is not on their wealthy list anymore.
Dont believe what you read or are told. And how financially sucessful someone "appears" is not a measure. You dont have to be a successful cancer patient to then be a world leading specialist oncologist.

I attended. I'm obviously new to property chat (but hung out a lot on Somersoft many years ago). The Wealth Retreat I attended was also many years ago... let's see, maybe going back 10 years?

I found it really inspiring, but also entertaining. As a person who has mostly learned RE via books and keeping to himself, it was one of the first times I really mingled with other people in the biz.

At the time too, I found it really uplifting to be able to meet and chat casually over dinnner to people with MUCH higher net worth than me. People building their 10th apartment tower, etc.

In the end, everyone will get out of it something different. And if you're only going there for 'content', well, you can probably of course get that content anywhere for free, like books or on the net. But for me at least, it wasn't really about the content. It was about spending 3 days fully-focused on one subject without the distraction of kids, or my 9-5 job, or anything else. In that way, it was a vacation, but really a vacation with a very self-development effect.

    AMA...

While I didn’t hear about a wealth retreat, I had a Discovery Call with them. Told me enough about blue chip property but if I wanted to know more, I would have to pay $3,995 for a strategy session that spoke to finance strategy, location etc...

If I proceeded with a purchase, only $1395 of that was refunded and would still pay 2.5% of purchase price on an inner-west/eastern suburbs Sydney property or a Bayside Melbourne property..

Yeah, so to estimate his net worth as $7m would be pretty laughable (actually pretty sad). If I had to take a stab in the dark, I'd say more like $70m. But who knows...
