Hi all - I own a block of townhouses in the Wyong Council area which is strata titled and has individual water metres.

However Wyong Water only reads the main metre and allocates water usage to individual properties based on the strata entitlement %.

This seems rather unfair way of charging water usage so I haven't charged the tenants so far but would like to going forward.

What is an equitable way in these situations to charge for water usage. My PM doesn't know what we can do.

If your bill is comprised of a fixed supply/sewer and variable water charge, have the agent read the individual water meters and charge the usage. You can't charge the supply or fixed charges.

I assume that the common area is also separately metered too.

If you own the block and it is strata and each unit has a meter, why can't they supply a bill for each, have you asked ?
