    Yes, seems the case

    the drying equipment now removed.

Partner will be taking photos, watching to see if cupped boards settle.

Lets see how this pans out

Put a level across the cupped boards to highlight the gaps and pick up the daylight under the straight edge. St least you will have photos of any changes.

Yep, instead of doing it right the first time they try to short cut jobs in an effort to save a few $'s

Only to end up returning to continue "repairs" to finally replace, the whole project costing far more than rectifying properly the first time

Add in the lost time and inconvenience to the home owner it's little wonder people hate insurer's

The only winner is the contractor, who likely doesn't actually "win" as the insurer is screwing them down on price at every turn also :(

Is there any way to feel better about it  ?

    The drying did not work

Insurer paying for accommodation for 2 weeks which is dog friendly. I have refused dog kennel

Insurers will try drying remedies. Fight them. They will then replace. They do this with all things incl floods. Nuts

    Still no floorboards.:(

The builder has requested 2 months for boards to settle/dry

That’s ok, at least My claim has been approved

The good thing is the insurance company will also remove furniture, we dont need to do anything

We move out and come back on completion, the job will take 2 weeks

Still no polishing of floorboards as they claim an area still needs drying

outcome…… after dummy spitting we now have a cash settlement $18,000…. Tip, never accept their first cash offer and make sure you got all the costings right

We estimate our cost to be around $6000 all up

    Thanks for following up.
Also good to hear that the damage is actually being repaired (placed) rather than insurance trying to shortcut/patch

Its a big win as cash settlement means we get to pocket $12,000 after repairs

This is partly why premiums are so high. That’s such a waste (though good for your pocket).

My MIL got considerably more than she should have from a rain event. She played the assessor very well.

    yes
But if I did not fight it the builder would have pocketed this

They also refunded my $1000 excess

The cash settlement was because the builder could not get his act together, taking too long. Insurance at fault for using poor supplier

Hint hint…. When insurance offer a cash settlement, never take the first offer, the second will be higher

@MTR you probably have supplier and installer contacts to get the replacement done far cheaper than the average person also
