Washing Machine Anti Vibration - Gym Mats?

To help minimise the vibration from a washing machine (older house on stumps, so no concrete slab), can put a washing machine on a gym mat (as an alternative to those "feet" absorbers) or is that not recommended?

Try to load your washer evenly. Make sure that the bearings aren't worn. The washer legs should be leveled.

You don't want to introduce an unstable floor which will throw the machine even more.

 

Yeah true dat. I had to sit on mine for a while there when I had it outside on pavers

 

Instead of spending the $45 on these mats: goto Kmart etc and buy the $10 camping rubber mats - 4 click together ones per pack.

They are thicker than the washer mats, not as dense buy do the same job for 1/4 the cost!

 

Nah skip the Kmart mats, I don't think they would have the quality or volume to work? I would guess that those gym mats would work though, after all they are solid and are designed to absorb impact and noise. They're 15ml thick and 1m squared so you would only need one.
My home gym is covered in them.

However, I don't think it would completely eliminate the vibrations, should limit them though.

 

A couple of thongs will work a treat. @datto can confirm.

 

I swear by them.
