Wanting to reno my terrace in Redfern and looking for advise to get started.

Hoping to avoid costly mistakes, delays and save on some cost doing as much coordination tasks as possible. The forum seems to be the right place to ask!

Plan the work out what needs to be done VS wants doing.

    Major works:
Eg rising damp, electrical wiring, leaks, gas line (If it's still galv iron), water/power efficiency measures, roof pointing, guttering, downpipes & stormwater etc.

Then get onto your needs updating:

    Eg: bathroom, kitchen, laundry, flooring

    Then maintenance items

Eg sash cords/balances, pest inspection & treatment, easing doors, sealing air leaks, air cond/gas heating, painting, retighten cabinet doors

    Then decoration

    Blinds, landscaping, paving/paths etc.

IF getting quotes, make sure you know what is and is not included and be clear on what standard and material you want. Eg: Find out if you supply the tiles or do you just have to chose them from a certain supplier and use a nominated PC amount.

Keep a good budget and prior to getting quotes do a walk through and as Scott said work out what's a must do and what is a would like to do, then work out if your budget is reasonable or a dream.
