What are you talking about @bob shovel ?
The blue carpet and wall paper? they were from 60/70s and not original. So it's now more original than it was when purchased.

What about cornice and fire places?

The cornice is an interesting one. Only 3 of the rooms had cornice when it was purchased the rest didn’t have any. The cornice design was different in each of the rooms. As we combined two of those rooms the cornice wouldn’t match and where we took out the wall there was a big gap. The ceiling was a lath and plaster ceiling in poor condition which couldn’t handle the cornice being taken off and new put on in that combined room so we created a new ceiling which we left as square set to match the hallway.

The only change to the 2 fireplaces was to remove part of the brick mantle on one as it was too big for the kitchen to function. It’s being replaced with a wooden mantle this week. They aren’t pretty fireplaces but I thought worth keeping.

Unless you mean the chimney system around the Metters stove. That had to go to create the bedroom.

I wont deny there are a number of more modern touches. But I think overall we saved a character house that many would have demolished and given it a new lease on life that will appeal to people that want a character home but also like some shiny new things.

I wonder what you’ll think of the front door I chose to replace the glass door that I think was installed in the 70s. Best not look

I have jarrah floors in a 1960s rental. They are holding up fine but could do with re-finishing. I don't think they have ever been re-finished

this should appeal to the people who want "more modern" and think they want original... plus they'll likely have deeper pockets ;)

imo it's stripped back to much, tiles and cornices can be matched but i understand the time and $$ dont stack up for that. Would have been a great PPOR to do.

and why did they battern out the ceiling so low?? Lost 300-400mm of height

and i think i can handle the door the easist  im guessing bright coloured? Tiffanys blue? (my fav ;) )

It's all finished except for the landscaping and painting the front door. I'll pop up some photos

@Westminster I like how you put the bath and shower side by side to save space. I also like that you kept the walls and skirting the same color, making the rooms look larger as well as the square set ceilings.

Looks amazing! Did you consider replacing that Super Six fencing in the rear courtyard?

Yes! it's a bit of an eyesore but time, money and neighbours got in the way so it will remain as it is.

Thanks. It certainly does save a lot of space and allowed a bathtub in case the new owners have kids or want a nice soak.

Looks amazing @Westminster. Really impressive stuff given the budget to get this level of finish.

Although I did notice you lost the tiffany blue front door along the way...

Thanks! It was blue up until a couple of days ago - it was just the undercoat :)
