How do you think you might go with this style of construction in more expensive suburbs? As you say there are obvious cost benefits with these methods but I fear for something like a 700k+ townhouse, it may scare too many buyers if its not completely double brick. Not saying that there is anything wrong with this, but it just seems that in WA we are a bit slow to warm to the idea.
Does anybody else have any feedback from any recent higher end developments using similar methods?

I think there are certain areas where alternative construction forms are actually seen as more of a positive - inner city for example, especially small compact lots where the flexibility of timber framing is a bonus.
This week's Sunday Times home magazine had a BEAUTIFUL timber framed extension - it looked hollywood glam Demo - The Perth Now Digital Edition

My builder is working today (love him!) and took me some photos of the kitchens that were installed yesterday.

These kitchens are a game of tetris to make the most out of a small space. I spent hours fiddling with it and I'm really happy how the pantry under the stairs works. It's like a micro butler's pantry.

Kitchen 1 - very 'architectural' colours. Laminex Seductive Limba and Laminex Black

Kitchen 2 - more 'mainstream nuetral' with Laminex Fox and Laminex Polar White

    Pantry is orse.

Just noticed there's no divider UNDER the upper divider...? I had a set up like that and it sagged after being loaded up with cans and stuff. Maybe a UC VO to put one in?

Yeah I love the pantry. I'm stoked it turned out like my imagination. I'll check into the supports @Aaron Sice . I imagine that the majority of pantry items will be stored in the full height section and the back section will be larger items - cereal boxes etc but who knows! The back section has a power point above the bench and will be tiled so you can put a coffee machine or appliances in there if you want.

Cornices are in and tiling has started. It's beginning to look less like a construction site and more like a home. I'm tempted to visit every day but I'm going to try and stay away until Tuesday and then the tiling might be finished. I have seen some of the bathroom floor tiling on Friday when I popped up to see the tilers about how I want them laid. I choose a porcelain carrara marble style plank tile on the walls in one ensuite - I am anxiously waiting to see how that will turn out.

You can see the pictures here Tiger Developments WA

Wowee all the tiling is going well. I went today and OMG how many trades were there - electricians, painter, stonemasons and tilers. At least 9 people carefully working around each other.

This is the Carrara marble 'style' tile in the master ensuite. I love it!

I'm not a fan of marble generally but those planks are a really fresh way to use it - I actually really like it! Nice! And I LOVE the pantry - so unexpected in a smaller home!
Great work Myf. Starting to get excited for my next project :)

It is a more modern interpretation of it - isn't it? The tiler has enjoyed working on the project, he said that it's nice to work on something that is a little different and he would gladly never lay a 200 x 200mm cheap tile in a bathroom ever again! He gave me a quick lesson on why 100 x 200 subway tiles are better than the 100 x 300 subways I had chosen. I shall have to remember that for @Braz and @DoubleD

Love the Carrara Marble style tiles. Very modern and higher end look. What color grouting you planning to use?

It's site visit day - photo time! More photos at Clarkson #2: Two houses on R60 360sqm block | Facebook

The concrete floor tiles in unit 1 are down and grouted but not cleaned up yet. These continue out onto the alfresco area

The wood look plank tiles in Unit 2 - not grouted yet. They carry out to their alfresco too

You can see my internal door choice here - I'm bloody over Corinthian Stanford and the Motive range. This is Accent by Hume doors and is around the same price and just a little different

I've just noticed looking at that photo that I seem to have skirting boards in my garage and painted walls. Fanciest garage I've ever seen! I'll have to check that out for sure.

This is the upstairs balcony - grout work just finished.
