I am currently visiting victoria countryside going through the great ocean road all the way to warrnambool. During the drive I saw a lot of these rollers parked in the fields. Can someone enlighten me what is the purpose of that? I am not a country guy so not familiar with the traditions.

Dried out giant Gippsland snails. They wreak havoc on crops as evidenced here with the pasture stripped bare.

When it rains again they'll rehydrate and move to the next field.
