To long, do you think they should be out earlier? The truck driver did not apply for bail.. and the court dates are set with input from the defense, magistrate and prosecution..the truck driver is likely longer as it would take significantly longer to prepare a brief of evidence and his charges are significantly more serious.

OK, I'm no lawyer, but to me this is a case where the facts can readily be established and there's no issues with disputed identity etc. ISTM that having such cases in court within a month or so should be practicable. As to them getting out earlier, the sentence - assuming they are convicted - takes account of time spent on remand so it makes no difference, save that ISTR that remand prisoners are treated somewhat more leniently than convicted ones (that might just be UK)

The more minor offenses can be dealt with rather quickly, but the serious offense have to be dealt with by a higher court. Not as simple as saying identity is not an issue, there would likely be hundreds of witnesses and thousands of exhibits. This all has to be collected, analyses and collated, then his Lawyers have to go through it. Unfortunately, it is not like the movies, there is a reason it can take 3-5 years for some homicide cases to get to Trial. Leniency is generally not a factor for granting bail... there are a number of factors that are taken into account however he did not even make an application for bail.

Just reading about the truck driver: meth addict, 5 hours sleep in 3 days, hallucinating about witches and driving a semi. What could go wrong?

Was getting a haircut today. Apparently Pusey's wife once worked at the hairdressers I visit. They didn't have very many good things to say about they guy. It seems that the press are only talking about the stuff they can prove...

For the ‘speeding under the influence charge’? I don’t believe the trial has been held yet.

Remember, Victoria was under complete lockdown for months. Things slowed down...

He is still in jail over other charges.

But his licence was suspended for two years, backdated to October, when he was already in custody, and the suspension may well expire before he gets release again. As may his two year good behaviour bond.

If he were found not guilt he would have exceeded time served. His sentence merely reinforces time served in what is a very complex charge. He didnt kill the police. Someone else did and they were sentenced. What he did was vile but not a specific offence other than "public indecency". One of the most ignored punishments he has been dealt is that of his disgrace and reputation through media. In common jail he may even be considered a hero.

Even if he changed name he will be hounded. He may not even be able to be a broker. Who would want to engage him ? There will be thousands of Victorian Police eager to be first to find him driving after he regains a license in just 2 years (or is found commiting a offence). His name will flag on the screens of every cop car. He may even be unable to safely walk streets.

In some ways I can't help but feel sorry for this guy. Wrong place, wrong time, extremely bad luck with a truck driver killing the police yet he cops it the most due to his his big mouth on video due to mental health problems. I think he's genuinely remorseful for his actions. He deleted the videos and didn't post them on social media. He also informed police friends about what happened after and sent them photos of the incident. I think he's been punished enough.

What he did wasn’t right (though he apparently has a personality disorder that may explain it).

But he wasn’t responsible for the death of the 4 police. Though the Police seem to be blaming him more than the person (truck driver) who was responsible.

The statement by the Police Association (Union) rep today was tantamount to a threat to his safety.

What a stark difference between the words of the Victorian Police and some members of the Police family against a nutter like Pusey compared to the Saintly understanding of the Oatlands family who lost 3 innocent children to a guilty drug crazed driver. If only the world could use this family as their role models in so many situations.

If any of you in prestige positions know sleazy people in the police force, you may have found that they have tried to “embiggen” themselves by showing you the same sort of “ crashed car porn” that Pusey recorded.
I immediately no longer wanted to be associated with such people.

Are you suggesting Police have shown you videos of them filming people dying while calling the said dying people “*****” and calling it “****ing amazing” and “justice” ? If so, I wouldn't want to be associated with them either and maybe you should make a complaint.
