    Hi All,

I just gave notice for a tenant in my investment property as they weren't looking after it. My agent has had an initial inspection to see what's required to be fixed. One of the items is the vertical blinds which are on all windows and sliding doors. The agent recommended getting them cleaned and fixed instead of replaced as it would be cheaper, however the quote came back at $802. Does this seem excessive? In short, the blinds are in all bedrooms (3 rooms), kitchen, living and one in the garage.

Would appreciate anyone's feedback on this.

    Cheers

Verticals are a PIA, cords across the bottom break and when blown by the wind look untidy if they aren't sitting flat. I'd suggest replacing with roller blinds (cleaning will also mean repairs).

Baby wipes work a treat to clean those pia blinds. Couple of $3 packs of wipes should do the job, have a case waiting and I'm your guy ;)

Thanks guys. Just called the agent and she will get a quote for roller blinds but she said she had another property two weeks ago who got roller blinds for a similar sized property and it cost around $2,000

I don't like 90% of the items I use to replace things in my IPs, but my pocket loves it, and the tenants are grateful to have new, functional and decent items replaced ;)

If you can do the labour yourself, the blinds are reasonably economical to replace. Like everything else in an IP, the cost factor is the person your PM sends out to install them for you.

    This is true.
I think there was another thread on blinds.
Spotlight often has sales on those types of things.

I just ordered 8 blinds similar to the ones Leo posted with blinds online made to measure, made in Australia and delivered to our house in less than 2 weeks for $920 with Blinds Online. The quality is not fantastic but at that price point it certainly met our expectations.

I just purchase an IP in QLD and have to install blinds around the entire house. Looking at those prices I might be better off flying up myself and going to spotlight or ikea and installing them myself

Vertical blinds? Burn them! Hate the things.

Roller blinds are easy to install if you're able to do it yourself.

I've had a 3 bed house done for about $1,300. This included privacy blinds and blockouts in the lounge and master.

@Johnbrown12, depending on how quickly you can get buying, Spotlight's got 50% off their roller blinds until this Sunday 26 June. Link to catalogue: Spotlight - Catalogues Page | Spotlight Australia
