When I was living at my PPOR I had suppliers for gas, water and electricity. This PPOR is now rented, with the tenants leaving in a few weeks. One utility company that had me as a customer when I lived at the property is now seeking a lot of information before I can be recorded as a customer. They have most of this information: name, DOB, my new address, and contact details. They have also asked for my driver licence number and state of issue. Is this usual for short-term invoicing? Why do they need all this information for a former customer? It may be a credit check or AML/CTF. TIA.

It sounds fairly ordinary to me Burramys
I doubt the co. have a "short term invoicing" option so they will treat you like any other customer. They don't know when you will get a new tenant.
