Have a reno at the moment...painters going in tomorrow and have to choose a colour for the walls. Apartment is 20 years old so is neither old or contemporary. Walls are currently cream/Hogs Bristle-esque. Def not going in that direction.

I was thinking of either light grey walls like Dulux Tranquil Retreat or Casper White and white trims or just Dulux Vivid white all over. Not sure going all white if that'll make the place look like a lab though. Whatever I go with, it has to suit the kind of property it is.

Apartment is waterfront so don't want to f it up. Balcony is west facing, front of apartment is East facing so it isn't overly dark.

I've had a few chats with painters about this and they don't really like Vivid White on walls that much as it has no tint so getting good coverage is harder.

    My go to colours are
Dulux Brume 50% (very similar to Tranquil Retreat but a touch warmer)
Dulux Lexicon 25% for trims with Brume or as a wall colour and trim/doors

Dlulux vivid white. The floors are warm enough that it won't feel too clinical. I'm painting one of my cottages it this weekend! White on white if your painter doesn't like the idea of vivid white.

Dulux White on White - it's lovely and fresh white, no yellow. We've got it in our house and love it.

We've also used Caspar white but it's quite grey - fine if that's what you want.

Lol That's exactly what my painter said about an hour ago. He said I may need 3 coats as a result, so more $$.

Thanks Jess but have heard White on White also throws off a blue tinge depending on the light situation, time of day etc. I've also heard Whisper White is ok for anyone who's used it before? And I've used Natural White before...was ok.

Re: Casper White, my painter just said the same thing as well.

Yup and that's the reason why I use Lexicon Quarter if I want nice bright white walls. It's got enough tint to do coverage with 2 coats/

Edit: here is some pictures of one of my projects with Lexicon Quarter on the walls Leased House 107A Aviator Boulevard, Clarkson WA 6030 - Mar 21, 2017 - Homely

I've used Whisper White a couple of times - loved it in one house, hated it in the next - it threw off yellow (need a spew emoji)

I don' notice a blue tinge in the WoW. But I might be used to it.
