It doesn't look too bad at a glance, no idea about the market/ area etc though

Kitchen and bathrooms appear to be very livable.

Assuming what they've done is done to an ok standard then it looks like a great project

I love it! Of course, I have no idea about values in the area, but if I found something like that near to me, I'd snap it up in an instant.

That is serious bogan territory - make sure you take your gun and plenty of ammo .

That Woodend house is similar to every house we've bought. That is a cracker. I'd tackle that too. ;)

Not a prob. I suspect the hole in the kitchen ceiling was from gunshots.

I just checked the map. It is a long way from the nearest Bunnings.

    HI Ricki
The plan is to buy a home around Gympie for cash after selling two of our Brisbane properties. Mr Angel is an unfulfilled builder who got trapped into an IT career, "retiring" from his Brisbane job to cash out his Super tax free. We would also take any casual jobs we can to support ourselves.

We would call in contractors if or when necessary, but we have reno'ed several dilapidated homes in the past all by ourselves.

Yeah but Bunnings is next door to Woolworths and across the road from Aldi. Dan Murphys will be nearby too.

The land I posted yesterday is very steep, so I discounted it immediately as a forever home. I'm up for the challenge as a "buy, reno, sell" project though. It wasn't raining when i woke up this morning so I planned to jump into the car for a drive by. Before I was fully awake it was raining again,so maybe later.

I regularly comment that the views from the highway up on that ridge are amazing.

Wow - <$200k for 5 hectares. Looks like a fun little project. What's your targeted return?

I'm having second thoughts about building a house without electricity connection.

How much is a full off the grid solution? Solar panels + battery + backup diesel generator? People who have bought this in WA reckon it is more reliable than grid power.

We would do that if we were designing our own place especially on acreage. I dont really want to go acreage. There are completed homes for sale on 1 acre blocks (no services) where my BIL's property is, for this price, if I wanted to be that far from town and that close to forestry. Which I dont.

We aren't looking for this size project, we just saw it, the view, when googling. If the owners did not do the retaining walls and foundations properly, the whole lot might have washed away last week. If the house is built in front of an un-retained cut, I wont touch it.

The weather is looking better this coming weekend so we might go for a drive and check it out. It's approx two hours each way from where we live.

    Let's try this one instead.
28 Calton Terrace, Gympie, Qld 4570

The one with the view to die for was just that - you would die up there - just the road itself is a killer. The house had tape across it - it is a NO, NO and another NO
