Units amalgamation?

    I saw an apartment with this written in the ad: "With the possible future potential of amalgamation to be sold as a site down the track, there is potential upside in this building."

    Is this always a positive, couldn't it also be a negative if the total selling price of the building/ land ends up being less than the purchase price of the apartment?
