    Also, do you check your own blood pressure? Are you on blood pressure medication? Is it generally too high or too low? Two things to watch out for on low carb diets: 1) if you lose lots of weight, your blood pressure tends to drop back towards normal levels - be careful if on medication that it doesn't get too low. You may need to check with your doctor about adjusting medication levels.

    If you're feeling light headed or dizzy at all it can also be an indication of low blood pressure - sometimes if your salt levels are too low, your blood pressure can drop and make you feel this way. The body needs salt and your diet may not be giving you enough - so consider adding a little. If you do feel this way, even just try a teaspoon of table salt stirred into a glass of water and see if that helps.

    Interestingly this is also what was recommended to me for heavy exercise - feeling light headed when on a long bike ride is usually because blood pressure dropping too low after salt loss due to sweating. Making sure you have enough salt in the diet (or replace the lost salt from sweat) can help.

    Unfortunately, eating salted potato chips isn't a recommended approach for supplementing salt intake :(

    I had a heap of chia seeds today, as they are supposed to be good as well. I was looking for a recipe for a chia pudding, using what I already had at home, but couldn't find anything, so added a bit of low fat milk, I can't tolerate full fat, let it expand a bit, & had that.

    Blood pressure is great, no issues there at all. I like salt, and although I don't add it when cooking, I do tend to add it to my meals, so I probably won't have issues with low salt intake.

    Careful of cows milk too - you'd be surprised the amount of carbs/sugar in it.

    For my coffee's I have unsweetened almond milk and for other stuff I substitute with cream or other milk variants.

    I now also have a high protein and far diet and low carb and feel heaps better for it. Also stay full for ages. If I don't have much on during the day usually breakfast and dinner does me.

    for 2nd breakfast, I make chia seeds with coconut milk, cacao (not cocoa!) and bananas ...

    I have this problem if I don't eat enough fat. A nice drizzle of olive oil or grape seed oil on salad with balsamic vinegar gets things working again. I can eat loads of veggies, fruit and legumes with plenty of water but I get the same problem as you. Without fat my system simply does not work properly. I also like coconut oil too for this problem.

    Years ago I took psyllium for a couple of weeks to help with this problem. I didn't have a good result. I sought from advice from someone I trust and switched out the psyllium for sweet potato and full fat coconut milk, which I had very good results with

    I don't have much in the way of milk at all, so that doesn't really bother me too much.

    It's funny that this has only just come on, as I've been eating this way for around 3 months now, but I suspect it's because I was eating chia pudding, which was very nice, but loaded with artificial crap, so decided I didn't really need that.

    That sounds really yummy.

    I find lemon juice or passionfruit or kiwi fruit does the job along with a few elemental yoga poses and a lie down.

    If happens to me every time I switch to eating something new if I don't compensate by eating eating extra fat. Intestinal flora and fauna take a while to adapt to new foods. I have problems if I switch to oats for breakfast (I usually skip breakfast) but after an adaption time I am back to normal.

    Awesome job with the weight loss. I live in a sauna (Darwin) and still can't manage to knock off as much as I'd like.

    I had previously tried everything to get it to move. Take a look at intermittent fasting.

    Thanks so much for sharing. Although I don't suffer any complaints (blood pressure, sugar levels, cholesterol etc) I did recently "fall" over into the overweight category :confused: and know that's it's purely due to sugar ... did someone mention salted caramel popcorn icecream?!

    I friend was diagnosed with diabetes 6 months ago, so cut out all sugar from her diet - but doesn't miss out - ie, changed icecream to greek yoghurt with berries. She's lost 19 kilos and looks amazing.

    Yum! There are two things that I adore....caramel & aniseed.

    I'm down a bit, but there's still more to go. I never liked greek yoghurt, especially unsweetened, but have been eating it regularly lately. It's something that we've always got here, as Hubby eats it. I started with sweetening it a bit with artificial sweetener, & then progressively cut back on it. I can eat it now without the sweeteners & don't completely dislike it. Getting there, slowly.

    Hang in there - it's a long process to retrain your tastebuds. I love unsweetened greek yogurt but - asides from the aforementioned icecream, I'm not really into sweets. My problem was I was eating a half litre tub of it every second night. Since I've cut out the weight is coming off again

    Greek yoghurt with fresh fruit can be good- if you're allowed the fresh fruit.

    Oh dear....that is a lot of icecream. Although I love caramel, I could never do that, as I put weight on really easily & then have trouble getting rid of it again.

    Although I have a sweet tooth, I don't eat all that much in the way of it. If it's in the house, I will, or if it's put in front of me, so I just don't buy it because I know I can't resist.

    Officially, I'm allowed to have whatever I want, including truck loads of sugar. I don't though. That would be foolish. I love fruit, but have cut back to only a little. My main concern is in getting the weight off first, then look at where I go to from there.

    I tried the 5/2 diet. It seems to work for most people, but not for me.

    When I went searching for why it wasn't working for me I found a forum where menopausal women seemed to be the only ones who were saying it didn't work.

    I'd lost weight using Optifast but really wanted to do it myself. I went to a registered practicing dietitian and I'm doing it myself. It is so hard though and since going overseas for two months and putting on 2.5 kilos I'm struggling again. Lost 1kg quickly and put it on again.

    I'm going on his advice for a test to see what my metabolism is doing.

    I'm eating calories that should see me losing but I'm not.
