Only the first episode so far - it's just a five part mini-series. It seems quite realistic and I assume largely accurate.

I would also add - I don't think it's something I could binge-watch due to the subject matter, but will definitely watch it all.

Where do you watch this from?
I heard it's now on Foxtel OnDemand, but might be on FOX SHOWCASE in July.
Heard lots of good comments about it.

I watched it at a friend's house & didn't pay any attention to the platform to be honest. I think they've done an excellent job of it - they've managed to take an extreme event and keep the gravity of it without Hollywoodising it if that makes sense.

It's ok... Really just a period murder drama with some faerie thrown in to be different. I don't think it's worth the reviews I have seen.

    However The Boys is excellent.

I read the amazing true story of Eli Cohen, an Israeli spy who became the chief advisor to the minister of defence in Syria in 1961. The intelligence he gathered before his arrest is said to have been an important factor in Israel's success in the Six Day War.

He was discussed when we went to Israel. We took a tour to the Golan Heights (Syrian territory before the six day war)- our tour guide had fought in the six day war. We went to one of the bunkers which used to be in Syrian territory. Cohen visited the bunkers, and suggested that it would be much more comfortable in the heat if they grew fast growing eucalyptus trees for the shade, which they did. He then passed information back to the Israelis that they should aim for the spots where there were eucalyptus trees.

Eli Cohen, played by Sacha Baron Cohen

    Who was Eli Cohen?

Eliyahu (Eli) Cohen, an Egyptian Jew, was born in Alexandria in 1924. As a young adult, he worked within Egypt to secretly assist other Egyptian Jews in emigrating to Israel. Cohen later became part of an Israeli spy network in Egypt, which was uncovered and dismantled by Egyptian authorities in 1954.

Arriving in Israel after the 1956 Suez Crisis, Cohen volunteered to join Israel’s military intelligence but was turned away. The Spy picks up after those events, with Cohen struggling with the bland realities of civilian life. But in 1960, facing an increasingly tense border situation with Syria, Israeli intelligence recruited Cohen, training him for more than six months in Israel before sending him off to gain acceptance in the Syrian expat community in Buenos Aires, Argentina, under a new alias, Kamal Amin Thabet.

To this day the Syrians refuse to return his remains.

So for the Israelis, it's a case of remains to be seen.

I think his family want it back to give him a burial.
