Good stuff. I would be happy to vote Liberal in the next election if Malcolm is PM. No way in hell I'd vote for TA. The man is an idiot. This is very good news I say.

And I think Labor is currently lacking strong leadership too.

That's the theory. But the person at the top has made a lot of captain's calls.

When more people think Bill Shorten would do a better job I don't think it is a so called problem.

An inanimate carbon rod would do a better job than Shorten.

This has been festering for quite a while. Abbott was a highly effective opposition leader. He took that approach to government and it has not been successful. This is the result of that public opinion.

Any politician vying for party leadership is doing it for ego. Turnbull is no different in that regard.

Was turnbull decieved? If so, a very cunning plan.

To those questioning why MT would make any difference to the libs chances; most voters never change their votes, regardless of leader. Evert election is a battle for swing voters. MT is infinitely more popular that TA and i bet BS with swing voters.

If Malcolm doesn't win, Julie will leave the deputy leader position. That would be a big loss. I'd be guessing that she wouldn't still be a minister either.

He was unfortunate to be opposition leader while St Kevin was basking in his short lived post election glow.... before anyone realised he was a narcissistic psychopath and show pony.

Actually I've always been right leaning ecobomically and left socially, a small L liberal i guess. Ive only voted for labor once in a state election and only the libs in federal. The last one o was certainly tempted to vote for anyobe else but i was jn julie bishops seat and she was the only real candidate.

Not sure why criticism of liberals mean im ab alp supporter? Blind support of any side is silly.

As for why hes a scumbag if you have to ask despite the mountains of evidence then it's probably not worth explaining to u

Sanj I'd be genuinely interested to know why you think he's a scumbag - that's quite a strong word.

You do realise that you win elections by getting the people who DON'T normally vote for you, to vote for you.

So the leadership meeting is going to start at 9:15pm.

For somebody with such an obsession with Q and A, that's a strange time.

Which is irrelevant if your own base does not vote for you.

So the hard right would rather lose the election than vote for LNP with Turnbull leading?

God I hope you are right, because MT will win tonight.

I think you might be surprised, as much as I don't think an elected PM should be removed mid term I was disappointed when Turnbull lost the leadership. He is articulate, thoughtful, sucessful in his own right and unlike many on both sides he has real business experience.
While some support on the right might be lost many swinging lefties and Green/Labor types would consider voting for him IMO and obviously moderate Libs like myself.
