After spending more time up in FNQ (live in Melbourne), I am starting to look at the prospect of buying in the Trinity beach area to initially spend the occasional winter and potentially move on a more permanent basis in 10-15 years.

We want to buy somewhere within a 10-15 minute walk to the beach, on a block around 800sqm with a house in need of minor renovation so that we can also Airbnb to friends and family. Budget around $500k. On the other hand we are prepared to go up to around $700k if the house was ready to move in with no work required.

How doable are both of the above?

Any thoughts on apartments in the area, there seem to be many for sale!

We are also open to other areas to buy into, all suggestions welcome.

Finally, does anyone have any recommendations for buys advocates in the area to help with our search?

    thanks

This is workable for the area. Be careful with flood and storm surge zones. Look at insurance costs too, is very high.

Airbnb to friends and family doesn't seem like a profitable idea - I would consider other options - maybe a permanently rented property with a relatively independent granny flat you can occupy
