If your skirting boards and architraves are in good smooth condition then go for gloss - the impact is amazing.

If however there are a few dings or imperfections then go semi gloss as the painters are right - it conceals a bit better.

In my previous property (brand new, everything smooth and square) we used gloss and it looked awesome.

In my current property (1880s terrace, walls out of square with uneven and wobbly arcs and skirts) we used semi gloss. Looks awesome.

If you're worried about the colour contrast then choose a really white white for the trims. We went with Lexicon 1/4 for trims - we get a lot of compliments on how fresh it is.

    Good luck!

Have you guys used colour consultants? Also semi or gloss for timber panels for interior wall? I'm looking at a house that is 100 years old or more.

Ive always used low sheen, never considered semi on walls. Does it highlight any imperfections?

Probably, but Hubby does a good job patching & sanding.

Semi gloss goes in bathrooms and wet areas - handles wiping down and moisture a little better. (I don't think Mission Brown comes in semi-gloss).

Thanks @Chilliblue, I just haven't needed to use it (but now that I know, I will splurge).

Thought I'd make your day. It also comes in 15 litre tins.
