I was quoted $2090 inc gst to cut down 2 medium eucalyptus trees (not sure the exact height but you can an idea from the photo). Just wondering if anyone knows a contact in Brisbane who might be able to beat that?

    Thanks

Do you need to submit a DA for removing trees?

Iam looking at removing a big tree and not sure how the process work in Sydney.

Do i submit an application to the private certifier and get approval or has to be through council?

The quote doesn't sound too bad for two trees. I had a similar sized tree removed from a property in Sydney last year and that was around 1000$.
@TML , i think it varies between councils. Giving them a call should clarify the process or maybe just check the local council's website for info.

20160504_131326.jpg I wouldnt complain about that price.
Considering the proximity to overhead services.
    Sydney, varies between council's.
We did 4 on this property, incl the main one in pic, 2 to the right and one out of sight, terrible access, $6k:eek:

Price sounds about right, especially if they bring the trees down, mulch everything and grind out the stumps.

I am sure you have done it but make sure they have the right insurances. There are 'cowboys' out there and you wouldn't want the tress falling on your property or someone else's.

Also, make sure the tress aren't covered by a VPO. BCC don't like it much when people chop down trees without the right approvals. People in our street have been fined $72,000 to $100,000 for doing things without permission.

I just paid $2k for a large gum tree cut down in Sydney - including cutting it up into firewood sized chunks.

Thanks guys for all your feedback. Sounds like i might go with them then. Trees have been approved to go it's no issue.

    Cheers.

    Old tread but still useful.
    I've a similar issue and I'm wondering if I need council's permission?
Your trees look like inside a property so why do you need a permission?
My tree is inside my backyard with some branches hanging over the neighbour's backyard so do I need a permission?

@nobhouse - are you in a tree preservation area? Yes.

Some trees are exempt from needing approval, Native usually need approval.

Our council had a list of trees that could be removed without approval, Some which may be approved after submitting a form and paying $90 and other trees that were not allowed to be removed without a level XX arborist from a council supplied list inspecting the tree.

My tree could be removed without approval, So I had the Arborist write the species of the tree on the invoice just in case council a few month later when I submitted my DA for a pool where the tree was.

Surf your council web site first.
Just don't disclose too much if you call (like your full name and address)
I am sure they're like the ATO and put a small red star next to you "to be checked on"
