    US in Dec.

Was confident until the announcement from the Govt a few days ago re: AZ and Pfizer.

At 3-4 million vaccinations a DAY, the US will be done in 6 months IMHO. We on the other hand....

I had my vaccination yesterday, so hopefully will be able to travel in July. my kids are studying in Japan and i haven't seen them since March last year so that will be my first trip - if it opens, otherwise I will wait in Thailand.

Australia... whenever that may be. Probably be one of the last countries to open up.
Had planned to go twice a year these days because of things there which may not be there in a few years so this sucks.

Otherwise next trip is to Barcelona beach again .... not allowed to leave the city limits.

    Outback Queensland.

I am over worrying about sudden border closures (three mad dashes is enough for me), hard enough within Australia but if overseas when it happened it would be a nightmare.

And, sadly, I reckon this virus is a long way from being under control.

I have 4 nights booked on the riverfront in 1770 in September before the school holidays. That's far enough from home for my head to deal with these days. There will be plenty of other camping and fishing spots to check out on the long way home.

    It’s lovely there.

Make sure you walk the short Paperbark Trail, 1-2km south of Agnes Waters, quite unique.

Oh this has activated my travel bugs! So not happy we had to cancel our Harbin and SFO trip last year.
For this year, had only done a few nights in Surfers, and a few day trips in the country towns.
Next I will be happy if I can go to Frasers Island, 1770, Hervey Bay etc....

Funny you mentioned Japan. Just watched Seaspiracy last night, and Fukushima is all over the news.
Cant say I like Japan that much myself after my last visit, but amongst my Australian friends, there seem to be lots of interest with that country.
And there are those who vow they'd never go there.....
My cousin have lived there for nearly 40-years and now looking to come back. I suspect it's because they cant get citizenship I am not sure....

There is really something strange that draws me back to Japan every single time. I've also met a middle aged couple who said the same thing. Being a Japanophile helps I guess but it's oddly refreshing to visit every time. There are huge societial issues over here but from a vistors point of view, I'm sold!

What did you dislike about Japan? Curious..I had a friend who took her family there (she's from an Asian background) - 2 kids and husband. When we discussed it she had a seriously long list of gripes about Japan which kind of took me by surprise given the number of people who loved it. She hated the crowds and how busy it was...I was like ermmm did you read about Japan before you went? LOL....Japan is what I'd called organised chaos.

My son wants to go to Japan to look at cars....mmmaybe one day. I've told my hubby he needs to organise a trip to Monkey Mia and Exmouth for my birthday. See how that goes.

Was in Shikoku last week. Lovely. It's one of very few places in Japan where one can easily drive as a foreigner so do hire a car when you get there (rather than at Kansai airport which is half a days driving from where you want to go) .

I've also got a trip planned for soi 6 then scuba diving in Philippines. I had to cancel a cruise and Bali trip last March. It would be great if all Australians can be vaccinated before 2023

Dont! There wont be any hotels and bars that would meet your expectations out there.

I heard on the radio the other day that travel might not return to normal until 2024, for Australia.
