What specifically are you after? Information about destinations? Or information about flying?

If you are after info on maximising FF points and getting the best deals while flying - then there is Australian Frequent Flyer and FlyerTalk ... but they are both much more about the "journey" than the "destination" (Flyertalk does have a destinations section, but I'm not sure how good it is).

I haven't really been on either forum in many years since I stopped flying for work - so I'm not sure what the quality is like these days.

Lonely Planet has some reasonable forums. I haven't used them much, but I've had some good answers when I have.

Specifically we're looking at short break tours out of London , but really wanted to find some good general forums.

My suggestion = Youtube & facebook

My wife and I just got back from 4wks in Japan (2nd best country on the earth!). We found video blogs were very helpful, more so than forums. I'm sure if you search you find dozens if not hundreds of videos, find a good vlogger and hit that subscribe button.

There are also facebook groups you can join which are very helpful.

Ski.com.au - is there any other destination? London to any of the ski locations across Europe, all in a daytrip.

Another vote for Trip Advisor here. Folks were very helpful and their tips saved me heaps...particularly using a travel agent in Vietnam for the Vietnam leg of our tour.

tripadvisor, lonely planet etc as others have suggested. When you have an idea of what you want to do I suggest you use a vpn to get around the geoblock and then use google.uk so you can access local travel agents for smaller groups and cheaper prices. You can either book before you go or wait until you are there with an idea of what's available. We have done this several times to London/UK in recent years.

I just got back (Tuesday) from Japan, Hanoi and Luang Prabang in Laos. I was surprised at how accurate Trip Advisor was. I got one of my teenagers to do the research and give me the summary of what to do and how to do it.

Nice. The airfares would've been a shocker doing those stops, and during school holidays too. Did you fly Air Asia (with a wing and a prayer)?

We flew Vietnam Airlines. Four people - $10,000 total. But the time of year suited everyone and being winter places weren't too crowded. I should have done one of my usual travel diaries on here.
