Remember transiting through Dubai March 2020 you could hear your voice echoing. So strange.

There was a point where you could see the Himalayas from Mumbai ... rather than barely the hand in front of you face

We want to do Napa Valley, California in 2022…. They are experts on fully oak chardonnays, no one comes close

Its cheap to travel in US, i think of Grand Canon, Yellow Stone park, Hamptons, Boston, New York, Portland, Virginia, Florida, San Fransisco bay

    US is awesome…. Eye candy

I think I said earlier that 2024 would be the year of travel. I was off a little, and want to make two slight changes.

    Normal travel by 2023. :D

There have been some great specials out recently

$98 Perth to Melb. One way, normally $171
    Jetstar. Dislike Jetstar

Be interested to hear if anyone is getting good deals

I booked with Singapore air and they sent me an email saying I can bid on an upgrade. You click on the link and make an offer of how much you are willing to pay and I guess if no one outbids you then you get the seat. There was a minimum amount though I think it was about $900

I was upgraded on a Brisbane to Sydney flight once by a friend who worked for Qantas and was on shift when I was flying. It was only a short flight but I had a small baby and was very pleased with the extra room.

This is over 30 years ago, and back then, he did say they would choose well dressed people to upgrade.

He said because many of the staff choosing who to upgrade did pick good looking women, he often chose people less likely to fit that mould when offering an upgrade. I had to laugh that he told me that after just upgrading me. :D:p

It's been a long time since I travelled regularly for work - but when I did I had Platinum status with Qantas and max OneWorld status and regularly got upgraded - including upgrades from business to first class on long hall flights!

I once even got a double upgrade - travelling on a full flight from Australia to the US, got upgraded to Business class at checkin and then upgraded to First class when I boarded. It was a work trip with a group of colleagues and I was feeling pretty smug when we arrived!

The point being that I always dressed for comfort when travelling - definitely not in the "dressing nice" category. I wasn't wearing shorts / singlet / thongs or anything - but I certainly wasn't dressed up.

Obviously upgrade policies will vary from airline to airline, but with Qantas - it seemed that status (as in, the amount you spent with the airline on travel) really did matter.

Imagine getting BC for $1000, while many paying $16,000

Its difficult once you get a taste for BC cant go back to economy, in particular long flights
