What type of thing are you looking for?

    I've been to-
Albania Antigua Australia Bahamas Belgium Belize Bosnia and Herzegovina Canada China Croatia Cuba Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland Fiji France Germany Greece Honduras Hong Kong Hungary India Indonesia Israel Italy Jamaica Japan Jordan Korea Malaysia Malta Montenegro Mexico Morocco Netherlands New Caledonia
New Zealand Oman Poland Puerto Rico Russia Serbia Singapore Spain Sweden Taiwan Thailand Turkey United Arab Emirates USA United Kingdom Vanuatu Virgin Islands Vatican City Vietnam
But some only briefly on a cruise. If we see a place we like on a cruise we go back. Eg we recently spent 3 weeks in Malta after loving it on a one day visit on a cruise.
We still have many countries on our list. Hoping to get to Norway, Switzerland this year or next.

    From Bali.
I have to travel through for work anyway, so figured may as well take Mrs Blacky and Jnr Blacky for a couple of days. Its a short flight and 3 days in Singapore is more than enough for a holiday.

The thing with traveling so much - it becomes very normal.
In december I flew from Bali to Perth for 2nights, returned to bali and then flew back to Perth again less than a week later.
Its only 3.5hours flight and fairly cheap (about $500/return). Spending a weeking in either location as required is very feasable.

Sure - what do you like?

Food is one of Singapores 'must do' things. A very popular dish, as mentioned above is Chilli Crab and Pepper Crab. We go to Lawsons Food Market. Its way better than the 'touristy hot spots' and far cheaper.
I dislike Sentosa Island, however, others enjoy it. Its kind of like a theme park with various rides/games/things to do.
    Shopping is popular.
Plenty of things to see and do but a week in Singapore - to me - is a long time. Singas is about a 3 day city - unless you live there.

Yes, but we are on a 14 day Cruise to Singapore, so 3 weeks all up.

Hehe, Sentosa Island is on the list....not because I love theme parks, but because there appears to be more than just rides.

We are not big shoppers, but if there's some good places to go, that would be nice. We also aren't big foodies either, especially as I'm losing weight, so rice, pasta, potatoes & sugar are out, but if the crab comes free of those things, great. :D

    Now I'm concerned, if it's a 3 day city.

I don't find Sing great for shopping $ wise. I do love Sing though and could spend a week there easy.

Of all the touristy things to do, the one that I'd prob do first is visit Singapore Zoo. Better than Taronga IMHO.

I've been to Singapore many times (4 times last year alone) & I'd say 3-4 days there would be plenty to see Zoo, Sentosa, Shopping/Food (incl. hawkers markets), Marina Sands...... the rest of the time, if it were me, I'd head across the bridge (bus or train) to Johor Bahru to get a small sample of southern Malaysia for a few days.

2nd & 3rd overseas trips for 2017 booked today & the Xmas trip to be booked next month.

5th trip will also happen & trip 6 for 2017 already on the cards too.... all this less than 2 weeks into the year! The year is looking interesting....

It's great to hear of plans others have as it gives other perspectives & locations to consider. For instance I'm thinking how to fit a cruise into the mix somewhere now too. :D

Maybe even fly to Kuching and stay there for a week. I liked Kuching and could be there for a more extended stay.

We will be spending a week at Georgetown, Penang. It's been 30 years since I've been to Malaysia.

We've already booked our tickets back home again, so we won't be flying anywhere, but will definitely look into catching the train to Malaysia.

I haven't been to Georgetown for over 20 yrs. I have fond memories of scootering around the island exploring, shopping, wining/dining.... I really liked my time in Malacca to. I've been to KL a couple of times in the past few years though. Malaysia is nice friendly country that I always enjoy visiting.

Plenty in or around the southern peninsula Johor Bahru - Lonely Planet

It's just an option to get another cultural experience that you won't find in Singapore's very structured, orderly & well developed society. Considering you can see JB from parts of Singapore, it's a trivial distance but an international border..... It's only about 8km from Singapore Zoo to JB.... yes it is that close.

    Thanks JD, appreciate it.

Yes, you'll find me in the McDonald's carpark on Luxford Rd. Look for the tall skinny guy with a toothpick in mouth, standing in front of commodore with hood up. Please don't sneak up and startle me.
