Hi folks... We found a great property but it has a pole mounted transformer right in front of it.

I guess pole mounted transformers are common in the areas(Melbourne) where there are no underground power lines?

Is it a problem and are people concerned about it?I have attached the photo for reference. Transformer1.jpg

    Depends on house setback.
    Sometimes the transformer can "hum".....
Not as noisy as a passing V8 ute though !
Probably not much of an issue if there's a decent front yard (*unless it's a picture perfect home and this spoils the view).

Clearly you are concerned about it, so logical to assume others are (or will be) too.

If you ever want to build/develop the site, you might have to foot the bill for putting in underground power lines.

We have one of these on the side nature strip of the house. It did not put us off buying. Yes we hear it hum/sizzle from time to time if outside. It has had no impact on our quality of life.

Great point Chris - this is a property that we or our kids may develop in the future - so good to know.

I wouldn’t worry about it as long as there is no easement on your property.

I wouldn't buy a place with those transformers in front of the house either.
