    Hi all,

I have a mystery - I wrote a trading blog for a few years that I stopped writing when I started my business and let the hosting lapse. Which I kind of regretted.

Now however, it's back! But I didn't do it, which is the mystery part. I checked my old hosting people and it's not being hosted by them anymore so I'm stumped.

    Any ideas?

It's a little problematic b/c my old subscribers are getting new emails of old posts really regularly, and I'm a bit concerned that 'someone' is going start passing themselves off as me.

If you're interested to read the blog, the website is www.roguetraderette.com - it was pretty big for a while there, I had a load of fun writing it.

@Leo2413 you might be interested in it.

Are you saying the recent post "by Jess" is not authored/ written by you personally?

No, they're all mine, but I have no idea who's hosting the blog! My WordPress account says I don't have any sites, and my hosting site isn't hosting it.

It looks like someone has taken it over....no idea how they would do that?

You can find more details on Whois

It appears your registration is with wildwestdomain but your DNS record is with cloudflare.

Bizarre! It's not me, that's for sure. I'm not sure whether to be concerned or not? What could go wrong here? Can they post on the blog? It doesn't look like they have yet...

Are you serious? Jess, you haven't bought yourself a flat screen yet? What kind of trader are you with only one screen? :p

You could scrape the site for the content, and relaunch under a similar domain all the while putting a hold on the original domain name so if it ever lapses, you will then own it again.

@Jess Peletier - proof that you are female?

This guy must still live at home with his mum - the toilet seat is down.

I'm currently holding our sleeping 4 month old, so this response will be quick. I'll put something better together tonight.
There are tools to do this specifcially WGET, to save the whole website. Domain registration is easy, ABN required but you would have one. Trying to get you original domain back hinges on the registration lapsing... Will continue later tonight.

I'd say that you let the domain expire. Someone noticed it had a high page rank or lots of traffic and though hmmm.... I can get lots of free traffic from an established site. So they registered your lapsed domain name, found your old posts at archive.org, and copied them. They then set up a new wordpress site & published them pretending to be you.

I'd say what will happen next is that it will again become an established site with google (they are publishing your old content but with recent dates)...... and then suddenly it will start redirecting to pron or similar. Or if you're lucky it may become a site for establishing backlinks & boosting the page rank of other (possibly unsavory) sites.

You've only found out because some people still subscribe to your RSS feed.... and there's nothing you can do about it.

    Yuck.
I never knew that was even possible? Surely there's a copyright violation or something going on here?
