    Hi All,

What sites are you using or found useful for getting trades and services for quotes and jobs ?

A while ago some people talked about Hi pages, but I have found responses a bit lacking even when very large detail provided, then I was reading that trades have to pay to use the service, so maybe that does not help.

    anyway

What are or have you used with success ? Have you used Gumtree, what about competitors to Hi pages ?

    cheers

There is a really good site in NZ called builderscrack.co.nz

Haven't found as good a site here, maybe should get them to expand to Oz.

I use ServiceSeeking.com.au | We Get Jobs Done. . Have used it for many years.

Focus only on those suppliers that have good reviews. The better ones will call you and it is good to have a chat.

I am always very specific about the jobs that I post. Provide as much detail as possible (including photos) with the aim of getting a fixed-price cost ( or a price range ) rather than just an hourly rate. I get quite annoyed if they can attempt to provide an estimate.

You will also get desperate calls from trades on their system that have no reviews.

Stay away from hi pages. Most of the trades their are dodgy as. Good tradesmen don't need to advertise.

I (partially) disagree. I have found some great ones on hipages. But, yes, also some dodgies. Not much different from picking randomly from the yellow pages, IMO.
