Any TSV locals care to shed light on why the rates are so high? Been having a sniff around and it appears rates are 3-4k per annum? Have I missed something?
For my PPOR rates are about 4200 pesos per annum and my insurance with contents is about 4900 pesos per annum (Suncorp). Cairns is even more horrendous I understand. @Kinnon Bell and @hobo could chime in here. pinkboy
Water and land rates for my place is a touch over $3000p/a but on the upside water usage is cheap. I can only hazard a guess as to why the charge is what it is which would have to do the cost of infrastructure up here. My insurance just renewed (and went up [thanks Debbie]) and that's a bit over $3kp/a too.
Yep, includes: General Residential Land Val Water Access Charges Sewerage Charges Cleansing Charges State Emergency Management Levy Water bill just gone was $30 for the period but no idea how we compare to other houses and don't have it in front of me at the moment to see how much the water is.
in townsville now you can split the water and charge it to the tennant. you just have to have wels3 compliant fittings in the house (shower heads, toilet cistern etc) its a water saving rating/ water saving shower heads etc. Rental managers will try and make you have a plumber do an audit but you can get around this by taking photos of the installed units and receipts/ proof of purchase as per the info sheet i found whilst googling.
