Article on News.com.au, interesting to see if not that surprising. Dominated by medical specialists, with a sprinkling of legal/finance/mining. Shows that for those with the skill and determination there can be big dollars in the right PAYE jobs.

I wonder where these guys put their surplus? with that kind of cashflow and borrowing power they would have far greater access to different classes of investment.

There are big bucks to be made if you’re lucky enough to nab one of these jobs.

Met a guy yesterday (property developer) who seeks private investment to fund deals. Minimum buy-in $100k. Average return on each project (12 month minimum buy in) over 25%.

I reckon that would be a good place to start dumping your cash.

I would check their track record of making money and have evidence of this. Is it audited?

Also, assuming this is Australia, we have had 3 property booms since 2013, developing becomes risky business when markets turn, IMO we are either at peak or close to peak. Something that needs to be considered if you are hoping for 25% returns.

Proven track record, private investment fund owned by a larger investment manager. Projects are typically townhouses and relatively small complexes formed from knock downs or vacant blocks in already developed desirable suburbs. All homes/units sell prior to works commencing.

Same model as this? a disaster, also what did not help was Perth market tanked, yet it was booming when clients were investing... they took too long to complete their projects, this with inexperience

I haven't invested my own money, but it does seem attractive. This is in Newcastle.

Other thing that might make the risk mitigated is that you're 100k is not invested in any one project, it's spread across all their current projects, so you're not necessarily going to lose should one project hit a stumbling block. Given the current market in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie they are not having any problems selling. Last development returned 40% to the investors.

Just do your homework. If they are spreading across many projects still comes down to what and where they are building. Its good to hear the markets are strong.

Timeframe for build is important because you are at the mercy of markets. Anyway perhaps I am too cautious?

Mostly into Porsches and big houses.

And trust me, there is no luck involved in becoming a surgeon. It's a long, hard road.

Pfft, I could have been a surgeon. I just didn't have the grades, or the intellect, or the work ethic.

Guess what!!!! Every one of those occupations requires the person to have a degree (apart from cricketer & possibly the trader).

Who says a degree gets you nowhere?

I'm quite confident there are some developers on the forum who make more than that in a year with 1/5th the effort. Just puts it in perspective. Probably nothing beats business.

I would say the reason 'business owner' or 'entramanure' wasn't on there is because it's not really a profession or job, but yes I would say that it is most likely the top paying job.

He can triple that or many times more if he thinks like a businessman.
