@MTR I agree with you. Its not popular to say but who cares. Its true. Not all people are lazy, but there is a huge amount of people who are just too lazy to make anything of themselves. And they are happy with that. That's fine. But it is true in my opinion. You see it all the time. Everywhere. I think its also a philosophical choice the top 5%ers make.

When you think, act, do and achieve like the top 5%ers do, your definitely going to get slack from the other 95%. Whether its at a party, at work or on a forum. Its a given. ;)

I'd agree. I was sitting here tonight going through some scenarios to do with our investments. It was really doing my head in. Until I thought - I'm fortunate to have so many choices. Not everyone is in this position.

I started this thread out of frustration, I meet people who are hooked on getting rich quickly, but only if they can sit back and do nothing. I am sure most know someone like this

this thread was never intended to target hard working people who could not care less about investing or wealth creation

I never thought for a second you were referring to hard working folks. To me, Its the folks who complain about how x, y and z is unfair, yet they are lazy to make any sacrifices to achieve diferent. That's the segment of people I was thinking about.

I think a lot of the time it's not laziness but being scared of taking 'risks'. Many people have asked why I'm investing and 'what if it goes wrong'. Well what if goes right? I won't have to save for 3 years to go on a family holiday when I'm older.

Plan do check act might work better in most circumstances. Or this could be my hindrance in making offers (see my other rant post elsewhere) lol.

Sorry mate but I have to pull you up on that one. Skiing isn't a vice... it's an investment... :D:)

My mate who works for the state government can literally "buy" time. There is a purchased leave scheme where he can have his salary docked a certain amount per week to have extra paid leave. I think he said the minimum was 2 weeks and the maximum 12 weeks? Hmmm... I wouldn't mind an extra 4 weeks leave per year. :)

2 out of my last 3 tenants from one of my properties left because they bought their own houses. I consider that a good result! (even though I miss good tenants when they leave...)

Coming from WA it's more than investment.

    I'll agree it's not a vice - it's a lifestyle :p

I am the first (probably only) to admit that I am one of these people. :p (I am now a renter, too by the way! :()

    But, I slag them off mercilessly with this add-on;

It's when they are renters, but also -
    1. Smoke/cover themselves in expensive tattoos,
    2. Drive too much car for their income,
    3. Spend gleefully on doodads and other things,
    4. Disrespect their Land lord and property (boss and LL haters).
    5. BUT THEN WHINGE ABOUT HOUSING COSTING TOO MUCH,
    5. BUT THEN WHINGE ABOUT BEING BROKE.

Now; of course - many renters don't do all of the above; many are short-term and have motivation to better themselves, aspire to be wealthy and take action, etc.

But, I'd wager the vast majority of long-term and pay-check to pay-check renters...probably do.

Yes, yes; they are free to do whatever they want. True.

Do whatever you want; just don't whine about your lot, pay your rent on time, and look after the bloody property.

    Bump

I got absolutely trashed with this thread, many posts deleted now.

But bringing it back... why...…. nothing has changed.... and I am not talking about hard working people who are happy with there lot in life. All good, everyone has a choice, no right or wrong.

I am talking about investors who want to become rich but are too lazy to do the work.

I am sure you know what I mean. They suck you dry, but nothing in return, they want your information, your help but not prepared to put in the hard yards.

It may be friends, family, acquaintances but it happens. It generally dies a natural death once they realise they have to work too hard..

    My rant for the day

The spruikers are onto this and targeting the lazy wanna be rich opportunists.
I saw a statement the other day along the lines of “Enrol to the program now and start living the lifestyle you deserve”, as in go from an average struggling employee, (which is who they target), to a semi-retired life of freedom.
Actually I think it was a share trading course promotion.

It’s funny though that many people actually do believe they “deserve” better than what they have. Like they actually have to work to get what they want, how ridiculous...

Many ppl imo, not just investors. Whats worse, they hate on others who have the balls to go for their dreams.
