    Hi,

A store opened up in Parramatta and what an overpriced shop to have a haircut or shave. These days seeing a lot of mediocre stores with fancy names opening up and charging an an arm or a leg. It was rather interesting to see guys paying money for over the top prices for hair products.

Grooming is really important and it's essential that people look respectable, but there are alternatives that can provide the same result.

There's been a real barbershop craze in recent years. I'm happy to pay for a decent ****, but yes some of the "hipster" joints are way over the top.

I pay $30 for a haircut which I think is reasonable.

Parramatta used to have $8 haircuts last year ( 2 barbers in a price war) but others were $10 - $12.
It that context then I think $30 is a little on the high side :)

Saw one opened in Marion recently, TVs and iPads (?) everywhere, drinks, looked more like a bar / tech store than a hair dresser. I don't need everything I do to be an experience, I just go to the hairdresser to reduce the length of my hair. I will stick with the $12 place in the CBD.

Exactly! All smoke and mirrors in my view to overcharge people and with the hard sale on wanting customers to buy their overpriced hair products.

$39 for a basic haircut is a complete rip

Plenty of mens barbers around eg. Hawleywoods in Newtown. Definitely don't charge $10. You'd need to cut at least 4/hr just to make wages let alone rent and overheads.

There's a pensioner in the Druitt who cuts hair on his back verandah @ $5 a pop plus a can of UDL (prefers vodka & pash).

He doesn't cut the back of your head though. He likes it to see it grow wild.

It's usually one of the first signs of gentrification these days.
