Scomo isn't worried by the shortage. He'll be able to use colour coded spreadsheets.

I think we should get ASIO onto this - could be sabotage from a foreign entity!

Seriously though - given the shortage of toilet paper in places like Hong Kong (Hong Kong gang steals hundreds of toilet rolls) - I wonder how much of ours is being purchased by people to send to family overseas like they do with baby formula?

People panic buying all this stuff unnecessarily makes me think Australia would be really susceptible to a bank run. A rumour on a perfectly good bank could cause all the nervous nellies to run to get their money out like they are doing buying stuff in supermarkets for which supply is not at risk at all.
End result - the bank would to have to freeze deposits and a snowball effect brings the bank to its knees, in the same way people are now creating artificial "shortages" in products.

A run on the bank isn't quite the same as a run on dunny paper. You need the paper when you have the runs,

At least Woolworths has put some sort of limit on the purchases. That should funnel the hoarders to Coles and Aldi and will let sane people shop at Woolworths in relative peace without the selfish nutters. This morning's news had a guy with his van absolutely full of toilet paper, probably a scalper with that much.

The guy I was talking yesterday who worked at Aldi said they had limits and when they wouldn’t allow extra’s the customers said they would load up there car and come back in

You know what, let them have the damn toilet paper. At least there is some economic benefit to all the extra spending caused by the panic. Manufacturing will ramp up and there will be plenty of toilet paper to go round. It might lessen the affect of the slow down from this virus.
Who would have thought. Toilet paper might just save our economy from a recession. Increased GDP growth from toilet paper production.

... and when the panic has finished, and people have a 12 month supply of toilet paper, there will be a huge amount of supply. The supply pipelines will be clogged up with toilet paper.

Pity those who really need it like right now. What will they use?

I have 2 weeks supply left. Might have to start separating my 2 plys into 1's.

Went to Coles last night. No toilet paper, no bottled water, limited shampoo, low on cereals, 2 minute noodles are out.

Plenty of protein bars in the health food isle. Multivitamins no problem. Various nuts. Stuff that has some nutritional value is in plentiful supply.

Amazing what people think are 'essentials' to their survival.
