Handyman might be able to fix a toilet if it's just something which requires a tweak, or else a plumber if it's a more serious problem with the toilet.

How could we possibly know that without knowing anything about your toilet?

Get an expert in to fix it if it doesn't do what it is supposed to.

Just get the model number and go to a plumbing supply outlet as it can be a simple job--take out reinstall the new parts..But sometimes it would be better just to employ a lic plumber as a lot these days don't charge a $80-00 call out fee because thay want repeat business, just ask the question about the call out fee and if they charge a fee find one that does not charge..imho..

Are you saying there's not enough pressure when you push the button to fully flush the toilet?

Is this a new issue or something that's always been?

If you really need to save money and have the time - assuming its not an in wall cistern, I would take the top lid off (usually you can unscrew a ring around the button), flush the toilet and see if all the water empties and when it fills up again is something blocking it. Are there any obviously broken bits? Otherwise take a picture of the whole thing, the flush button and the inside of the cistern (the top part of the toilet) and go to your nearest Reece store (Waterloo is closest to Darlinghurst) to see if they can assist you.

You can just use a bucket of water to flush out you waste but pre fill it before doing your thing otherwise you might get leg cramps or pins and needles in your legs if you browse your phone and take too long sitting and it will then be harder to fill the bucket of water and carry it back to flush out the bowl.

Before you go calling tradies, have a look under the cistern as sometimes the spring(s) in the flushing mechanism may have worn out and need replacing. You can get the parts from either Bunnings or a specific plumbing shop. Could be something basic like this.

If someone has installed a new cistern on an old bowl they can have problems flushing because the old style bowl isn't designed for the water saving cistern. Check that someone hasn't bent the float down and it's not getting the full amount of water in the cistern too.

Be wary not to over-tighten the thingamajig as it will damage the thread on the thingamabob. Using a left-handed cordless knurled widget wrench with a gaseous vacuum chamber dial should decrease the risk of damage.

    Take this advice.

A cowpat should know a lot about clearing blocked toilets.
