Would you prefer a shower over bathtub or eliminate the tub?

Doing a reno and struggling to decide to put the tub or not. I hate all the bulky bathtub looks but would have little choice if I put the tub. Small space. Spoke to agents in the area and feedback is almost 50/50.

    All opinions/ideas are welcome.

    Tough call
I was going to say ask agent but u have already done this.

Do you think you will dramatically limit your market with no tub??

I hate shower over bath, it's so old fashioned and can be dangerous and restrict your market.
When we renovated our (big)house, everyone said we must keep the bath in case someone wants to bath their babies. So we got a fashionable bath.
Fast forward to last month we had an Apartment for rent, with 2 bathrooms, no bathtub but big showers, was inundated with Applications!

I don't think so and neither do agents. Most agents are split on whether to put it or not. I guess ideally I'd like the place to have a bath...but that's the only place I can put it..

I wish the agent feedback was as clear as yours. I've seen good sales in the area with shower over tub, but not many. Still deciding what to do.

Leaning towards ditching the tub. Thinking it may ruin both, having ugly tub and poor shower space...

    No for me too.

The concept of essentially sitting on the floor of the shower to have a bath has always struck me as unusual and gross.

The considerations are: number of bathrooms/ensuite, number of bedrooms, target market (empty nesters, FHB, families).

I'd dump the bath & go for a good single or double shower, frameless screen, Grohe shower on a rail, SS grate.

3 bedrooms, 1 ensuite, 1 master. Target market likely to be empty nesters and families. Out of financial reach for most FHBs.

Probably do then a decent single, SS grate, rail set, framed glass (i want the brushed brass frame look) shower..

Had a similar dilemma during a reno 2 yrs ago. Ended up putting shower over bath on the wife's insistence.

Regretted it ever since. Should have left as a large shower. None of the tenants since have had kids in there. It just doesn't look right and feels unsafe when standing in the tub.

If you can't fit them separately and it's unlikely that your target demographic is a family with young children then I'd just go with a really nice shower.

PS I'm doing a 3 bedroom, 3 ensuite house at the moment and the main master ensuite is the one which will have a bath as it's the biggest one.

No for me too. I personally hate shower over bath. The concept was always stupid.

I know I'm old fashioned but let's face it, I'm not the only one! I'd rather have a bath than a shower. Forget the little kids - lots of adults can't get through life without a good soaking.
Unfortunately, most bathrooms are on the small side and this question constantly haunts us.

Go with the large shower. Just ensure there is a seat at one end of the shower space and a shower head on a hose. Great for washing a dog and have a cheap removable plastic bath for babies if needed.

i just renoed and living in now. Layout exactly like yours except toilet is in a seperate small room. Took out bathtub where your sink currently is

Just have a walk in shower, glass wall long enough so water doesn't fly out everywhere, but also don't over do it - it's easy to do that.

    no regrets at all

Another one for no bath. I feel it will be a lot more desirable having a generous shower.

Yep moving shower to bath, and moving vanity from original layout which is horrific.

    Sorry not too clear.

Is yours for rental or sale ? I did a reno 4 years ago. Project manager recommended replacing the bathtub with standing shower [for tenants]. It was a good move.
