So apparently Manafort, while supposedly cooperating with Mueller, has not only been lying all the time, he's also been feeding info back to the White House.

He's obviously looking for a pardon.

Won't go down well for him - he's a fool if he thinks Trump is going to save him. Trump is to busy trying to save his own backside.

On a positive note, the Mueller investigations will probably end up in profit for the government after impounding proceeds for illegal activities

While talks with Russia over business deals during his campaign don't imply collusion (which may have never happened, we don't know) it does imply that business considerations were impacting his policies as a candidate in regard to Russia.

It may help explain his overt friendliness towards Putin - something which was implied.

Okay - not saying that they're linked but seems rather co-incidental over the last 24 hours:

    1. Cohen gives new evidence
    2. Manafort set up in "mole" trap
    3. FBI raid Trumps tax attorney
    4. Police raid Deutsche Bank headquarters on strong accusations of money laundering - a bank that has been funding Trump to the tunes of billions over the last few decades

And this morning's news showing Trump being interviewed near the chopper was an embarrassment... "thou doth protest too much".

Roll on January when the Democrats have a little power to investigate the things the Republicans deemed "not a problem".

I believe there is some rot in many governments, but this one stinks.

What is that - with the insistence of being interviewed in front of a rotating helicopter? Does he think it manly or something, to have to shout over a machine - or is it a form of question avoidance?

Finally... Roger Stone is arrested. It has been flagged for a while, but I wondered if it would ever happen.

"Stone is charged in a seven-count indictment with witness tampering, obstruction and false statements about his interactions related to the release by WikiLeaks of hacked emails during the 2016 presidential election."

And House Democrats will probe Trump's odd relationship with Deutsche Bank.

Giuliani admitted on TV that Trump was involved in trying to get a Moscow tower deal together right up til the day he won office.

Giuliani is interesting. He’s playing dumb but I think he’s very smart. He’s preparing everyone for what is coming so people (the rusted on supporters) will overlook the shock of the next revelation... flagging the bad news to come out - to lessen its impact when it hits.

I’d love to know what Mueller has in his back pocket.

    Things are getting interesting...

The Don is not happy - but good to see solid and factual journalism in action.

Apparently CNN had been watching the situation for months and were alerted something was about to go down by unusual increase in Grand Jury activity. They then watched Stone's house and were on site to record the arrest. No need to alert. Just traditional shoe leather journalism

It's the expected response - what else could he say without going out of character?

Stone, unlike some of the others indicted, has signalled that he will not plead guilty or co-operate.

For anyone not au fait with Roger Stone and his history, it is worth searching for the "Get Me Roger Stone" documentary.

Speculation only: Appears Sean Hannity (Fox) might be in some hot water too. Apparently comments he made on Fox regarding Clinton's health, at a peak pre-election moment, mirrors suggestive discussions via email between Stone and Wikileaks.

This would mean that Hannity was fully aware of the illegal activities and used them in false representation

At least some of what is happening appears to be the result, not of criminal intent, but of enthusiastic amateurs not completely aware of the rules. Trump was elected to some extent because he wasn't a professional politician, but there seem to be many things happening to his team which may well not have happened much less with professional politicians who have played the game, and who know the rules - or at least know how to keep rule breaking under cover.

Sure. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. And in some cases, "enthusiastic amateurs" doesn't explain a lot of things.

A lot of rules were broken in getting where they were - certainly politically, sometimes perhaps legally.
