What do people here feel about Flinders View in Ipswich QLD? Most homes are new on decent sized blocks. A fair number available under DHA lease. Chances of CG? Does this suburb also have the same potential issues with soil and movement of the house like some other parts of Ipswich?

You can use the below map to find mine soil affected areas as a start - that’s what I did when I started looking around Ipswich/Springfield area :)

Map Search : Ipswich City Council

Thanks for that. Any thoughts on suburbs in Ipswich? The good, bad and ugly :)

No worries! I’m not a local - based in Sydney so can’t help much there. But I am under contract for a property in Greater Springfield Region. I didn’t look too closely at Ipswich, but I did like the Springfield region - family oriented, under $550k for a house on 600sqm+ land, a lot infrastructure being built, hasn’t seen the insane growth yet as what we’re seeing in Brisbane (so hopefully potential to grow), yield isn’t too bad, people who get priced out of Brisbane may look to this area in the future (as it’s only 30mins away) etc.

I’m from Sydney but bought in Springfield
I checked out Ipswich but it wasn’t anywhere near as nice as springfield
Very cheap and nasty in some places, although flinders view and raceview would be my two picks
    Stay away from basin view

It's a clear NO for me.

There are heaps of house & land package supply in surrounding suburbs such as Ripley, Yamanto and Deebing Heights. Long terms CG should still be okay but you might find it difficult to lease the property out during the market downturns.

In terms of soil problems, some Ipswich suburbs are affected by underground mining (e.g. Collingwood Park). From memory, part of Flinders View is in the "mining influence constrained area" which is the least affected type (but could still have some minor ground movement): https://www.ipswichplanning.com.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0016/1960/ips_fact_sheet_2.pdf

I had a week of being a delivery man in Flinders View, some nice area and some not as nice area. The nice area hardly seeing a block for sale (along Kensington Dr) though. Biggest problem IMO is the lack of shops and restaurants.
