Pretty sad hey. Bad enough hitting an adult, but my blood really boils seeing a kid being/having been hit.

Most of the posts have been deleted ??

am not takings sides, my bestie g/friend is a Palestian, heard good and bad stuff on both sides.

However I did post links that I thought were interesting and now deleted, weird how do we learn? Its OK to have a different opinion, we are adults, no need to delete, over reaction IMO
I guess this will get deleted

The original post in this thread was about a photo of a Polish girl who was deported from her home and sent to Auschwitz. She died not long after the photo was taken. The photo is notable because it has now be colourised which makes it even more dramatic than it was.

The post was NOT about Jews or Palestinians, nor was it about other minority groups being persecuted around the world right now. It was about a photo.

Let me be clear: if the thread was about anything other than what I described, it would be deleted.

MTR did not at any stage intervene to let anyone know the conversation was heading down the wrong path.
This is an "off topic" section of the forum, so one would assume that a wide range of topics and issues can be discussed as long as everyone plays nice with each other?

You are completely missing the point.

Every other topic that you tried to insert into this discussion is not allowed on this site because they will always end up generating a massive amount of work for the moderators to keep things civil and avoid problems.

Getting back on topic, my son's been invited to the Jewish Museum for an excursion. It'll be interesting to hear his thoughts and how it's affected him and his cohort.

@MTR I have been to Auschwitz and no words to describe the pervading sadness. All one (especially a Jew) can do is fall to his knees and weep.

My apologies. I didn't know that you were in Sydney, and these days, one can't be sure that a person's offspring live in the same city.

I looked it up because i haven't heard of it, and the title of Jewish Museum sounds uninteresting. The description makes it sound worth while. I'd be interested in hearing impressions.

My daughter told me that there's a holocaust museum in Melbourne, which I hadn't know about previously.

I mentioned in another post, this girl was not a Jew.

They murdered Roma (gypsies), homeless handicapped, individuals that did not measure up to their concept of master race.

Sure. Ethnic poles, gay people, Jehovah's Witnesses, disabled people. Holocaust victims - Wikipedia

6 million of a worldwide population of 16 million Jews died. 20% of Poles died- a lot of those were Jews. 3 million Ukrainians. 2-3 million Russian POWs. Perhaps some of these others are not remembered- I was surprised by the numbers of other groups. We generally only think of the Jewish people- and indeed, the impact was far greater as a percentage of their population than many other groups. But the other groups emphasise the scale of the brutality.

I worry that the rise of racism around the world now could lead to tragedies, even if not to the scale of WWII.
