Work in progress.... I'll post pics tomorrow (well, today....). Apparently grasshopper life cycles are at least a year so very much a WIP!

Tomatoes aren't thriving in the new bed but hopefully that will change in the nearish future.

We've had so much rain here, I think a lot of my stuff has drowned. I had lovely snow peas that were producing the most lovely little peas, but they're now dying. My lettuce has gone to seed. Something is eating the tomatoes. Zucchinis are dying before they get to a couple of cm's in length.

Rain destroyed some of our plants here also.

About to plant stuff that can endure the harsh wet season up here in QLD such as snake beans etc.

Nice, we've got some snake bean going. Hoping to start fruiting in a few weeks! I hear snake bean are prolific.

We grow then each season. They go insane, produce like crazy. I love them more so than normal beans. So versatile and fantasic in asian dishes.

    Has beans!

The neighbour has had successful prolific crops, but my snake beans were crowded out by the unexpected prolific growth of the nearby tomato and tomatillo plants.

IMG_20181220_203627_194.jpg Speaking of tomato I just thought I'd update the thread with my avalanche of tomatoes both cherry and other varieties - I'm going to make a few curries and a pasta sauce this weekend to absorb them all. We've been blessed with good tomato weather here in Adelaide this spring.

    They look fantastic.

We’ve had a great crop of tomatoes but earlier and current heavy rain for days on end have made it difficult to get perfect tomatoes without any blemishes and some are splitting. Still taste fanstastic though. And because wet weather makes it difficult to spray etc against pests catapillars are getting into some tomatoes.

The rain/hail ruined my garlic but I found a few bonus potatoes this arvo.

Tomatoes still haven't flowered - no idea what's going on there.

Ginger has put up shoots and is growing well.

Is that NSW or QLD? We badly need some rain here - today is terrible, I've had to put shadecloth over everything because the heat is just too savage. There's rain predicted for the weekend, hopefully we get lots.

QLD, Maleny. Mid 20’s here over the Xmas / new year period. Go figure. Had 200 mil of rain about 4 days ago.

Too many apricots and lots of raspberries.

Apricots are weird, one year you’ll just get a couple and the next barrow loads. We made jam, badly/sloppy and froze about 5kgs. When I was going thru the freezer found a stray container of last years, abundance...

The raspberries are good. The trick is to pick them just before they are really ripe and rotate them inside in a bowl. The birds only seem to like the ripe ones.

Some fruits crop heavily every second year.

As for birds we net everything. Being in QLD we grow the low chill raspberries so awhile before they fruit yet.

If we had 200ml in one day here it would be chaos! Can't even imagine that kind of rain, all my tanks would be overflowing.
