They were just saying on the TV that the whole state of Adelaide is without power.

I think they mean the state of SA ? or City of Adelaide ?

I'm posting from phone. Its a disaster.

Whole state is out, apparently connector to Vic taken out by storm.

Out everywhere including traffic lights and street lamps. Cops directing traffic at cbd intersections but no where else. Complete grid lock everywhere.

All shops and businesses closed. My car was on empty and service stations were telling people to leave their cars and get taxis home.

    No train or tram either.

I had to go to Elizabeth police station to lodge a report (so can claim malicious property damage on EBM claim) and it first went out while I was in there. They had the lights on generator but not the computers so couldn't help me.

We moved house recently, so miraculously had the mower and fuel in my boot still so put that in my car.

Sent messages out to all of the agency's tenants to remind them of a few important phone numbers they might need.

Driving Elizabeth -> CBD to pick Mrs up from work -> home in western beaches is not a fun trip under these conditions.

Big storm! Wonder if it'll hit VIC? Nothing WA side, although I must say I'd be itching for a day off work to catchup with things if we woke up with no power for a couple of hours ;)

Driving with no traffic lights and heavy rain is a pain though, with visibility low I hate it , and of course I can imagine how drivers are going to cope given a little rain brings Perth to a standstill already with overly cautious/slow drivers :O

Also some talk of lot of SA uses lot wind power, and storm means is too windy, I am thinking they have turned off that generation, we will see if that had anything to do with this outage.

I was thinking you better watch out on level crossings, but apparently all trains and trams are out too (although I would still look in case they get power.

It is also said that is expected to move upwards and into areas of NSW that have already been inundated with rain.....

@WattleIdo is there any drama with water in Parkes ?

Arrived here just in time to feel it. It wasn't so much the rain I felt (maybe up north) but the winds. Boy was it chilly. More colder than melb over the long weekend. Usually the other way around.

Am hoping cold weather continues so my uncellared vino stays fresh :D Hoping the weird winter/cold weather turns to a nice spring like 18-20celcius by November, or my potential proposal plans goto mush!

None at all @dabbler. I would say the Forbes situation is in large part due to release of water from Wyangala Dam. Creeks are much lower than they were abbout 3 weeks ago.
That storm that left Perth for SA must be headed this way however.

Hope all is ok over there Adeladians.

With 41% of your electricity provider, Electranet, owned by a foreign private company, it reinforces to me why basic utilities should not be privatised. These need to be properly funded so they can fork out the extra costs for extreme-storm preventative systems and recovery. Just my two cents, bit following this I am damned happy the sale of chunks of Ausgrid to the Chinese has been blocked. It really isnt in the national interest to privatise (and especially, foreign-privatise) such vital services.

Im in Adelaide and the storm hasnt been too bad in my opinion... bit of rain and lightning but no strong winds as yet.

I think it could be my fault there is no power... i was thinking id charge my phone just in case. Plugged it in and the power went out..

Have been trying to get home from the city for about 2.5hrs. The city is chaos without power. No pwtrol stations or shops are open. Trains and trams not running. No traffic lights so traffic is standstill.
